Matching Looks with Performance

The Mira Showers Sports Max Electric Shower increases performance without sacrificing comfort. To start with, thanks to the Mira Airboost™ tech, this model is able to increase the flow rate ~30%, all without using more water. Using the mechanical panel, you can access this tech as well as go with the standard flow rate. What's less optional here is the Sensi-flo™ technology, minimising scalding chances and, using advanced pressure-stabilised temperature control, ensuring safe showering with multiple people sharing the stall. The tech includes phased shutdown, flushing hot water from the tank and preventing the next person using the shower from scalding.

But, before concluding the tech inside this device, let's shift gears and discuss its appearance. While most electric showers nowadays look alright, this one is especially attractive, featuring premium chrome detailing fittings that complement contemporary bathrooms and easily blend into the surroundings. There's nothing especially attractive about the mechanical panel with LED indicators though, pretty much mirroring the product's predecessors and mid-range contemporaries without introducing anything new. Circling back, the Clearscale™ tech is where maintenance becomes easy and hassle-free, reducing limescale buildups by ~50% and securing considerable longevity.

What's a little less considerable here is the flexible hose that's shipped with the package. Looking at everything else that this product is bringing to the table, the hose is middling at best, so we would recommend exercising caution with it or replace the hose sometime soon.

Excellent Coverage

Now that we've breached the maintenance subject, the 4-spray showerhead that this model adopts should not be overlooked. Besides ensuring excellent coverage, this 'head incorporates rub-clean nozzles, enabling easy cleaning. Of course, not unlike most electric showers, this one offers flexible fittings so that you can install and adjust the model with relative ease, covering existing screw holes and making the finish clean and spotless. Aside from the features that we have outlined above, the panel does not entail anything particularly different, including standard features like eco, low power, and high power modes.

To summarise, people who share a shower stall with multiple roommates or who live with a large family will appreciate the Mira Showers Sports Max Electric Shower and its multiple safety and convenience features.

Keeping Things Simple

The Aqualisa QZE8521 keeps things simple and we can get behind that since most people will not be using the twenty different settings that electric showers sometimes feature anyway. The only area where the model is not keeping things simple is the installation part, with the product's unique footprint making the installation process quite fiddly and sometimes requiring you to drill new holes.

That's about it though. Aside from that, the product is all about simplicity and elegance, with chrome-plated tubing, hose, and controls. These parts stay the same but you can choose between white, graphite, and all-chrome finishes to make sure the device fits your bathroom style.

Now, finally addressing the simplicity part, the controls here are reduced to one dial and an on/off button. The dial glides smooth, so you won't have to apply excessive force to change the temperature. There's an LED indicator around the only button that tells you when the temperature is hot or cold, which is nice but not really necessary thanks to the company's Over Temperature Protection mechanism. To make sure the experience remains safe, this mechanism prevents you from selecting especially hot temperatures, quickly overriding and stabilising the temperature at safe levels before you're forced to suffer the consequences of your questionable temperature-selection decisions.

Showering Bliss for All

We're not saying that you won't be able to customise anything but the temperature here though. On the contrary, the showerhead that comes equipped with five different spray patterns will let you do precisely that. You can go from an invigorating and concentrated Inner setting to the relaxing Outer pattern, choosing the showering bliss that suits you best. The easy-click switch will make sure you're not facing any challenges selecting between these patterns and the easy-to-clean nozzles will minimise the showerhead's maintenance demands.

In fact, the product's maintenance demands will be low across the entire board, courtesy of the delayed shutdown mechanism that will be flushing away residual hot water, running seven seconds after the unit's turned off to minimise limescale build-up. What won't be low is the 105-millimetre showerhead that will make sure even tall people are able to stand comfortably under the 'head.

In other words, the Aqualisa QZE8521 will prove the right fit for those customers who don't care for unnecessary gimmicks and numerous questionable settings.

Posh and Polished

The Bristan BL3105 has been designed eye-catching, long-lasting, and suitable for most installations. The sleek LCD screen with its touch controls looks smooth and elegant, unlike most mid-range electric showers that incorporate mechanical panels. The chrome-plated elements make the product look posh and polished, though you'll have to treat them with care since these elements are susceptible to scratches, damaging the high-gloss finish and losing the sleek appearance.

Using the touch controls, you'll be able to access and manage the device's numerous settings. The temperature display will not only tell you the water's temperature but also let you set the desired temperature with 0.5-degree increments. As nice as that is, the Warm up mode is much more impressive and convenient though. With this mode, you can set the temperature you want and when the device reaches that temperature, the on/off button will stop flashing, eliminating cold starts and making sure that you're able to start the day the way you see fit, with the showerhead blasting water with the right temperature.

Aside from these two, there's not much separating this sophisticated device from most mid-range electric showers. You can go with the Eco mode to conserve energy and water. The cold power touch button and the high power touch button will streamline interactions so that you're able to switch between cold showers and regular ones with one press of a button.

Practically no Maintenance Demands

Despite the sophisticated tech, this product is not at all demanding maintenance-wise. The anti-limescale mechanism will make sure the water continues to run for a few seconds after you turn the stream off to flush away any hot water from the shower. This solution will be reducing limescale build-ups, prolonging the product's lifespan. When necessary, the performance indicator will flash 'CL' to tell you when to clean the external filter and handset. You won't have to scrub anything here. The build-ups can be normally wiped off the nozzles with ease.

You shouldn't face any installation challenges either. The device can use existing holes and fixings, staying in the same spot as the previous shower. Plus, the brackets on the riser rail can be adjusted, letting you cover the existing drill holes in the tiles.

Bottom line, the Bristan BL3105 is not necessarily cheap but the controls, easy maintenance, and sleek aesthetics more than justify the elevated price.

Luxurious Enough

The Triton Shower MOMT014G Martinique Luxury is not as luxurious as the previous entry on this list but noticeably more luxurious than what you're usually able to afford within this price range. Sure, the mechanical controls with dials do not look as sophisticated as touch buttons with an LCD screen but the LED indicators that come with these mechanical controls add a certain contemporary and maybe even high-tech touch to the device, separating the product from cheap electric showers.

Naturally, we're not suggesting that these indicators are the only contributors here that differentiate the device from the cheap pack. The showerhead alone hosts enough advantages to make that distinction. First things first, the large head comes equipped with five spray patterns, so you'll be able to switch between jet, blast, spray, rain, and drench.

As you'd imagine, the jet setting will let you rinse targeted parts, usually reserved for cleaning different items rather than yourself. The blast is what the jet is when you add more nozzles to the mix, perfect for taking quick yet efficient showers. The spray one is that standard setting that we're all used to, so there's not much to address here. The rain pattern is awesome, especially if you're one of those types who likes standing in the shower for 20+ minutes contemplating the choices you've been making lately and what the future holds for you. Last but not least, the drench setting will make sure that you're, well, drenched, so you'll always be coming out nice and clean from this setting.

The Hose is Open to Manipulation

Though the showerhead does not look especially expensive, the chrome-plated hose makes up for the product's shortcomings in the aesthetics department, along with the tube that supports the riser kit. This implement does not support/stabilise the 'head as much as they usually do though, so you won't be able to choose any position you want and secure the showerhead in that position. On the upside, you'll be able to manipulate the hose the way you see fit. The anti-twist mechanism makes sure the nose does not kink and its 1-metre length does not restrict you in the slightest.

The device comes equipped with separate temperature and flow controls, so you'll be able to optimise and customise the experience even further. Before concluding this review, the product will present very little maintenance challenges, mostly thanks to the phased shutdown that does wonders reducing limescale build-ups.

In short, the Triton Shower MOMT014G Martinique Luxury can keep its name, the product's more than earned that.

Separate Controls

The Triton MOSV01SG is simple, convenient, and economical. The model will not receive an invite to the most sophisticated electric showers ball but, from where we're standing, showers do not need to be sophisticated anyway, so this criticism is pretty much moot. What's not moot, however, is the unit's 10.5-kW output, handling considerable pressure without considerable hiccups.

Again, the idea behind this product is pretty simple - you make the controls as intuitive and straightforward as you can without also making them a little basic. In this case, what prevents them from getting basic is the fact that the model features separate temperature and flow controls. As you can guess, between these controls, you can adjust the temperature without changing the flow and vice versa. Plus, because the controls are separate, there's no chance you'll accidentally change the setting you did not want to change.

Reviewing the overall package, you receive an electric shower, a riser kit, a hose, and a single-mode shower head. In other words, the package is fairly standard. More often than not, the shower heads that come with these kits incorporate multiple spray patterns, so this one being a single-mode head is a little unfortunate. That being said, people seldom bother switching between these modes/spray patterns, so this is not the worst thing in the world.

A Great Hose to go With

Appearance-wise, the model looks about the same as Triton electric showers normally look. The head's and the main unit's white housing contrasts the chrome hose, making sure that this kit should mesh well with most bathrooms. Besides its chrome treatment, the hose measures 1.25 metres, so you'll have some leeway in the stall. Plus, with its anti-twist construction, the hose prevents kinks, meaning that you won't have to waste time untangling it every time you step into the shower stall.

The dials that we've mentioned before include 10 different temperature settings and 3 flow modes: Cold, Eco, and High. What they also include is an LED indicator above the flow control dial, letting you know that the system is working as intended.

All things considered (including the standard 15-millimetre connection inlet and multiple cable and water entry points that this model offers), the Triton MOSV01SG is worth the small price the people at Triton are asking for it. Furthermore, the model is compatible with cold mains water systems.

What Is an Electric Shower?

We've been making various appliances smart to make our lives less complicated, which is necessary since the stress levels are on the rise. With these developments, it was only a matter of time before we would start approaching showers since that's the place we normally go to, to relieve stress and, when not, that's the place we go to every day anyway. It is hard to relieve stress though when you're forced to fiddle with different dials and handles, wasting minutes trying to find the right temperature.

That's where electric showers come into play. These showers let you quickly and easily find the right temperature. Plus, once you've found it, the device will memorise the temperature, so you can start your day at the right temperature from the get-go. In addition to that, these showers will usually let you select the flow rate and choose between different modes to make the experience comfortable and relaxing for all needs and preferences.

The showerheads that come with these electrics showers are usually pretty good to begin with but you can look into these separate ones too. You can (and should) also look into shower mats to prevent any injuries and accidents.

What Features to Compare

Kit Contents

Electric showers are comprehensive packages that usually include the main setup (the box that connects the cables and such), the showerhead, the hose, the riser kit that supports the 'head, and, sometimes, toiletry trays and such to hold shampoos, conditioners, and other beauty and health products. More often than not, showerheads come adopting multiple spray patterns so that you're able to customise the experience and switch things up occasionally. Do not forget to pay attention to how easy/hard are the nozzles to clean 'cause you'll be doing that quite often to make sure the flow is consistent and unobstructed.

Power

As you'd imagine, the device's productivity/potency is determined primarily by its power output. Generally speaking, electric showers fluctuate between 8.5 and 10.5 kilowatts, the numbers that will tell you the maximum flow rate and pressure capacity.

Flow Rate

Things are pretty straightforward here. When the maximum flow rate is high (above 5 litres per minute), you can rest assured knowing that the device will be able to deliver, so you won't be standing there forced to rinse and scrub extensively only to make the shower useful.

Placement

You place these devices onto walls, that goes without saying. Things are great when the boxes come with multiple entry points (both cable and water) since then you're able to replace existing electric showers without fiddling with cables and tubes. Normally, the kits include the hardware necessary to install these showers, so you should be able to do so with ease and little effort.

Connection Inlet

The inlet's length will only be determining the issues with installation, so most products are packing 15-millimetre inlets since these are the standard ones, enabling straight installation.

Controls

Expensive, high-end digital showers come equipped with sophisticated controls, sometimes even adding LCD screens with touch buttons. These screens display various settings, including the current temperature, mode, flow rate and so on. More often than not though, these showers are armed with basic dials, dials that let you change the temperature with ~2-degree increments, switch between flow rates, and so on. Sometimes, there are extra modes and buttons that let you immediately switch from the desired temperature to cold showers and back, so that you do not have to fiddle with the settings when you need that occasional alertness boost in the morning.

Fun Facts About Showers and Showering

- Though there are numerous benefits to them, people do not like taking cold showers (due to obvious reasons). In fact, the average temperature that people normally choose fluctuates around 42 degrees Celcius (108 degrees Fahrenheit).

- We're wasting too much water. To be more precise, the amount of water that's used in 5 minutes, provided that the flow rate and the pressure are somewhere around standard, is 75 litres (20 gallons). That's especially unfortunate considering the fact that the average amount of time people spend in the shower stall is ~8-10 minutes, with women usually taking more time than men.

- Interestingly enough, according to multiple sources, more men take daily showers than women, 70% to 57% respectively. These numbers vary though, with some studies suggesting that 58% of people shower every day, without putting any emphasis on the individual's sex.

- People do not forget to wash their hair, religiously so. In fact, most people use shampoo 5-7 times per week, which is not only more than necessary but is also fuelling the ~billion-pound health and beauty industry.

- Many get pensive in the shower stall but that one is hardly surprising. About 67% admit to using the time in the shower to dream, plan, and reflect and that's more than understandable considering the showers' therapeutic nature. Try to name any place that's more suited for pondering the past, present, and the future.

- Croon as you clean? You're in the majority then, along with 63% of people that like to occasionally turn the stall into the stage, singing their heart out like no one's listening (probably because, indeed, no one is listening). A shower stall is a private place and, with the water dampening the sound, it is the best place to practise hitting those high notes without anyone judging you.

- Though the place is private, you don't have to be alone there. Those who have partners are usually not against showering with their significant other, as 73% will happily admit to.

- Men can be lazy, we know that. Apparently, 45% of ladies say that men aren't pulling their weight when it comes to keeping the stall clean. You could make an argument that men use fewer products, thus are less likely and less prone to contribute to the issue but you could also spend that time scrubbing, rinsing, and polishing, so choose wisely.

- The numbers are not clear here but it comes as no surprise that most people prefer to step out of the shower to dry themselves, right? First, shower stalls are usually limited space-wise, so you might not be able to comfortably wipe yourself. Second, there's usually no place where you can hang a towel, so you have to step outside to grab one anyway. After doing so, going back there only to wipe yourself clean makes very little sense.

- Our homes are shrinking, we know that. With them, the shower stalls are shrinking too, and 48% of people admit that they would love to have a larger, more comfortable stall, maybe even with a high-end electric shower device.
