Thanks to an included motor, you can control all the functions of the crane and turn this massive superstructure 360°, which helps in fixing the lifting rope in place. On top of that, the 4 LEGO Technic building sections are backwards compatible with every LEGO set out there.

With 4000 pieces included in the box, it will take you a while to assemble the whole thing. Additionally, the crane can be converted into a Mobile Pile Driver Truck.

You can drive it forward, backward, left, and right, as well as make 360° turns thanks to a handy remote controller. Originally an RC Stunt Racer, the model can be converted to a Remote-Controlled Racer.
Two engines drain the batteries faster compared to single-engine models.
Thanks to the addition of the RC, this model will have a second life once it's assembled. Unlike standard Technic kits, it features two Power Motors, which make the vehicle extremely fast compared to models with only one engine. Certainly a good pick for 9+ children. Just like the Real Thing
When simple racing and truck vehicles are just not enough, you need to get something more sophisticated. Something like the LEGO Rough Terrain Crane.
It features a big, fully adjustable crane that extends up to 1 metre. And besides the regular things a standard crane would do, this one can turn 360° without breaking a sweat. Additionally, the kit is supplied with the weights that you can lift or use as a demonstration of crane’s capabilities.
Importantly, this particular kit is compatible with other original LEGO construction sets or building bricks and can be used as a true construction vehicle.
The attention to detail is fantastic in this kit. Thanks to an included LEGO Power motor, you can control all the functions of the crane by pressing just a couple of buttons.
As for manual abilities, you can turn all the wheels simultaneously, just like a real all-terrain vehicle. Additionally, this toy vehicle includes a highly-detailed V8 engine that can move the pistons and its fan when you move the crane.
All things considered, this set is definitely one of the best LEGO Technic products for its price. It's a very accurate copy of a real heavyweight crane that does all the things you could expect from an actual all-terrain vehicle - it lifts things, it drives well, and as a bonus, it can be turned into a mobile pile driver.
Build for Real
The LEGO 42096 Technic Porsche 911 is one of the most true-to-life replicas included in our review. At the very first glance at this excellent car, you get a strong impression that a lot of effort has been put into bringing this race car to life.
For starters, just like the original vehicle, this toy has no additional parts that might obstruct the driver's view or increase the car’s weight in any way.
Furthermore, unlike other Technic sets from LEGO, this Porsche features headlights that look just like real. Since the original car takes part in 24-hour races, it is not a bad idea to pay extra attention to the headlights even in a replica model.
As a nice touch, the included authentic stickers even include the road maps that you can put on the inner side of the driver’s door.
The only slight niggle with the set is that because it's a single model piece no conversion options are possible. However, considering the high quality of the kit and how stunning the assembled 911 looks, we doubt you'd want to change it.
In the end, if you're looking for a stunning display racing car to enjoy family time with your teen kids, the LEGO 42096 Technic Porsche 911 is the best LEGO Technic kit to consider.
KEEP ON TRUCKING
Right off the bat, this Mack Anthem Toy Truck Replica isn't a children's toy. The recommended age range starts at 11 but even older teenagers can find it a little challenging at times.
For instance, the driver's cab is insanely detailed. It is completely accessible, with opening (and lockable) doors, a detailed dashboard, realistic steering wheel, adjustable seats, a bunk bed, and a sun visor. The bodywork is authentically designed and even the wing mirrors are adjustable. See, that's great, right? It is. But putting it all together will take even an experienced, seasoned adult some time and effort.
In fact, this awesome LEGO set consists of 2595 pieces. Now, it doesn't make it the largest LEGO kit since those flirt with double the numbers but it is definitely up there.
The attention to details here is also exceptional. The detachable trailer comes with outriggers, crane arms, landing legs, even a container with lockable doors. The outriggers are extendable. You can lower the landing legs in order to secure the truck in position for those heavy loads. The crane arms can be used to lift the container onto the trailer for transportation. On top of that, you can convert the truck into the Mack LR garbage disposal vehicle. Heck, even the steering system is interactive, with working front-axle steering and a rear wheel drive that you can use to steer both trucks into position.
Taking it all into account, this Mack Anthem Toy Truck Replica is easily one of the best LEGO sets out there. And it's definitely the most detailed and interactive kit on this list.
Speed Monster with Remote Control
The 2-in-1 LEGO Technic set provides something more than just usual “build your own dream vehicle” this time. Contrary to other Technic sets in the same price range, the 42095 Stunt Racer comes with two remote controls.
To begin with, the stunt racer has tracks instead of wheels, which makes it more mobile compared to regular LEGO Technic cars. Combined with increased clearance of the vehicle, it is capable of doing stunts, as well as tackling various obstacles that may occur in its path.
To make the stunt car more powerful, the folks at LEGO have equipped it with not one but two advanced motors. Therefore, the car is capable of reaching the top speeds in a matter of seconds. Topped with high-quality tracks, it turns into a speedy beast regardless of the road surface.
Moreover, if you ever get bored with a standard racer model, it can be easily converted into an off-road buggy that is significantly wider. The buggy can make incredible 360° turns which, in all honesty, look simply amazing. And it does them without any significant loss of control.
All in all, the LEGO 42095 Buggy-Rover combo is a great offering when it comes to spectacular stunts and fast off-road driving. If the regular cars and trucks don’t fascinate you anymore, this speedy monster will definitely hit the spot.
An Ideal Display Boat
The LEGO Technic Racing Yacht comes as a 2-in-1 set that can become the first mechanical LEGO set in your collection or a great addition to it.
To start off, the basic Yacht model can be converted into a catamaran which looks just as good as the basic model. To add more, it retains all the functions of real yachts with all the moving parts working just as flawlessly. Although the kit doesn’t include a lot of pieces, it actually allows you to watch all the moving ones.
The only gripe with this LEGO set, though, is the fact that the yacht doesn’t actually float, which is quite surprising. On the bright side, it acts great as a display model. Bright colours of the parts combined with the moving mechanisms certainly leave an impression of a functional boat that can fit almost any interior.
What is more surprising is that the boat is fitted with all the mechanisms that make the regular boat controllable. They include a sail handling mechanism and a rudder steering wheel.
In a word, we recommended this LEGO Technic kit to children younger than 14 years, since its assembly is quite simple. If you are in search of a great LEGO Yacht or if your child goes crazy about boats in general, then this kit will be right up your alley.
What Is a LEGO Technic Set?
LEGO sets don’t need any introduction. However, recent innovations in the toy industry have brought us numerous mechanical marvels that can be considered fully-fledged replicas of real-life objects - LEGO Technic kits.
Unlike regular LEGO sets for children, the Technic packages feature at least ten times more pieces. What makes them so special, though, is the fact that almost every single piece serves a function. It's not just for show.
These sets include rubber wheels, moving axles, steering, and other parts that actually work. And you can control them by pushing down a button or turning a lever. Although it takes a reasonable time to assemble such models, the process is fun and certainly rewarding in the end.
What makes the LEGO Technic sets special is the high level of authenticity that gives the whole kit a realistic feel to it. This goes from identical shapes and size ratios (in comparison to real objects) to authentic colours and additional stickers.
If you are looking for something less sophisticated, we also recommend taking a glance at our review of regular LEGO sets. Alternatively, if you are into unusual toys, a good collection of marbles will make a standard marble run even more exciting.
