Hi-end System in Any Colour

First of all, look at this colour selection. With most other models, you can choose from 2 to 4 colours, if any. Here, you have 32 options. That’s a lot. Whatever colour your car is, these parking sensors will blend with it nicely. No one will even notice them if you don’t want it. Though, of course, it is only a sliver of its pros.

Having purchased this unit, you get 4 sensors in your chosen colour and everything you might need to install them on your vehicle. The model is compatible with most cars and installing it is as easy as it can actually be, the whole system is designed in a way that any DIYer can handle it. And when it’s on, it is simple and reliable: when you are getting a tad too close to an obstacle while reverse parking, you will hear beeping, and the closer you get, the more insistent that beeping becomes until it’s a continuous sound at which you need to stop if you want to avoid collision. The default distance for the beeping to begin is 1.5 metres but with the addition of the adjustable brainbox, you can change that; this will come in handy for those whose car has a low or angled-down bumper.

The parking sensor system also includes a swap socket for when you decide it is time to replace the sensors: with a watertight socket, you need not remove the bumper again to take out the sensors, insert the new ones, and rewire. Granted they are from the same company and of the same size, that is.

Plain and Simple, as It Should Be

A four-sensor system for your car that will help you park with more precision. The distinguishing feature of this particular model is its small brain box: its size is small enough that finding the place to install it is a simple task even without the manual, though there is one included. Furthermore, you will get the necessary tools for that with the purchased box: 4 sensor spacers, cords (obviously), a sticker for the brain box, and a 21 mm hole saw to drill the holes on a plastic bumper. Do note, though, that this is a system for plastic bumpers only so if your vehicle has a mix of plastic and metal or a fully metal one, it is better to turn your attention to another model. Fortunately, our review has other types as well.

This mini parking sensors kit is able to detect obstacles at the distance from 30 cm to 2 m with a 60° angle both vertically and horizontally, and it will change the buzzer sound five times as you get closer to a possible collision object.

The model is offered with the manufacturer’s 3-year warranty as a backup so you can be certain it is of a good quality.

Super Easy to Install

If you deeply care about your and your car’s safety but can't afford an expensive parking sensor, make sure to check out the KKmoon SB122 Parking Reversing Sensor Kit. With this system in your car, you will be able to park safely pretty much anywhere even if you don’t have a lot of driving experience.

The set of this model includes everything you need for quick installation, and the whole mounting process won’t take you longer than an hour. The cables that come in a kit are pretty long, which allows placing the speaker as close to you as possible.

Despite being one of the more affordable models, this device still features 4 highly sensitive sensors that alert you when you get close to an obstacle or a person on your way while parking. The audio alert system has a beeping sound that changes to a continuous one if the distance between your car and any object shortens to 50 cm.

Apart from being highly sensitive, this parking system is also pretty robust and has a decent service life. It has anti-freeze protection and is rainproof, so it fears no water splashes. Thanks to its sturdiness and good performance, we consider the KKmoon SB122 one of the best car parking sensors that should fit the needs of every driver.

Powerful Unit and a Bargain

Here, you can choose between a set of 4 or 8 rear parking sensors. There is also a certain colour selection though it is not too wide and only includes red from the bright options; the others are black, white, grey, and silver. It is not a bad selection, especially for the price, but it could be larger.

There are other peculiarities to this system that make the lack of colours a dim issue in comparison. For example, this kit has double CPU and a better chipset than many others, allowing for more precision and better detection at bigger distances; it will warn you if there is something low or small on the way, like a child or a low fence/wall. It is not uncommon for aftermarket parking sensors designed for reverse parking to notice large and tall objects better, like other cars, buildings, and light posts—you won’t have this problem with this model.

Additionally, this parking sensor system has anti-freeze and rain protection, making it a good choice for any season and weather even when you need to leave your car outside the garage. Besides, it is a really good bargain.

Mini System

If you have a car with a plastic bumper—which is, basically, almost any more or less new car besides some classic models—this is one of the top options for you. These aftermarket parking sensors come with a mini brain box that requires very little space (essentially, it needs less than 8 cm on the longest side). It is the simplest model, with no display to show you the precise distance so you will have to rely on the sound. However, the said sound is loud enough that you will hear it even if you place the buzzer at the back of the vehicle so it is a very tiny issue in our books. The frequency of the buzzer changes with the distance to the obstacle—the closer you get, the more frequent the beeping becomes.

Installing the set takes approximately an hour and is easy enough to do by yourself if you have some skills with a drill and a hole saw; the latter is supplied with the purchase, by the way. The detecting distance for the sensors is from 30 cm and up to 1.5 metres. The maximum distance is a bit closer than with some more expensive models but still enough to be able to stop in time when you reverse park. It is also an all-weather safe system, protected against wind, rain, snow, and freezing. All-in-all, this parking sensor system aids new and seasoned drivers greatly.

What Is a Parking Sensor?

The development of innovative technologies gives rise to a multitude of devices called to make the life of car owners easier. Parking sensors have gained incredible popularity among these devices and among us drivers. A parking system usually includes an electronic unit, detection indicators, and ultrasonic or electromagnetic sensors. These components allow you to safely park your car in a garage or in any confined space: they "feel" the distance to the obstacle, be it a wall or another car, and they notify you, usually with beeping sounds and sometimes with the distance shown on a display, that there is a danger of collision. This way, parking sensors can make riding safer and help you protect your car from damage.

If you need a tool to lift your car for a wheel change or some repairs, we recommend you to consider purchasing a car jack. And if you often leave your car open-air, you surely need to check out this car covers review.

What Features to Compare

Type and Mounting

When you face choosing the parking sensors, you need to consider their type and mounting location. All parking sensors can be divided into car (installed directly on vehicles) and garage (installed in garages to facilitate parking) ones. You should consider the type of sensors based on your needs.

Once you decide on the type, you should proceed to a mounting location which largely depends on the type of parking sensors you choose. Garage parking sensors can be installed on garage walls or ceiling, depending on the configuration. As for the car parking sensors, the most common type is that that can be mounted on a rear bumper. The rest usually goes on the front bumper and feature special input for speed sensors that make them automatically shut off when the speed exceeds 20 km/h. You may also find combined types that can be attached on both bumpers as you see fit; as a rule they are a bit more expensive than the other two. You should also check out the mounting options. The majority of parking sensors are attached with double-sided adhesive tapes, an easy and convenient way entailing no drilling. However, you can also find models that need to be secured with anchors and screws. You can choose whatever option suits you best.

Do note: these sensors must be placed at a height of at least 45 cm to exclude collisions with other objects on the road.

Efficiency and Warning system

The efficiency and notification systems are the next important factors to consider when choosing parking sensors. The efficiency depends on the quantity of sensors. Naturally the more sensors there are the less blind areas and the better detection capabilities the system will offer. Knowing that, it is best to look towards models that have at least 4 sensors. Next, check out how the signal is transmitted from the sensor to the control unit. Wired signal transmission is typical of car parking sensors, while wireless one is common for garage sensors. Also consider the detection range, i.e. the distance between a car and an obstacle the sensor can tell you. The range from 0 to 1.8 m is considered to be the optimal, and if this range is divided into three zones, it is a significant advantage. Make sure to check out how the warning system works. Some parking sensors use sound alerts, others communicate through images and light signals. Good if the parking sensor has an LCD display so that it can show you what's happening behind your car. Simpler and less expensive versions use lights that change colours depending on the distance to an object. You can also find parking sensors using laser lights which on top of changing colours will also indicate the distance where it is best to stop your car.

Features and Power supply

Last but not least, learn what other features beside the important ones the parking sensors offer and what power supply they use. The best sensors are usually offered with a self-diagnostics feature that allows them to automatically run a check-out of the condition of the sensors themselves and the wiring. Some sophisticated parking systems are able to determine the distance to an accuracy of a millimetre; that is usually used for precise hitching of trailers. Another useful feature is the technology that prevents the false warning caused by an echo effect; that may happen in bad weather conditions, during parking on a rough road surface or in some closed space. The sensors should be dust- and waterproof, in particular, the bumper-mounted models. Finally, we consider the power source of parking sensors. Garage parking sensors are generally powered by electricity supply via AC adapters, yet some models can be powered by conventional АА batteries. The sensors with both types of power will be the best option, as the batteries are used as a reserve power source. As for the car parking sensors, they are usually powered by car batteries.
