Capacity That Matters

The Anker PowerCOre+ is an upgraded version of the popular PowerCore series. Weighing almost twice as much as the standard PowerCore, it provides almost a 3-fold increase in battery capacity.

The main selling point of this portable battery pack is, of course, its capacity. With almost 27000 mAh under its belt (26800 mAh, to be precise), the power bank is capable of charging all modern mobile gadgets and most of the commercially available laptops that you can find.

Moving on, the plastic body of the appliance firmly protects the battery pack from damage while the internal MultiProtect safety system offers decent temperature control to the capacitors inside. On top of that, the portable battery boasts high-voltage protection, regulation of current as well as protection against undervoltage and overcharge.

Furthermore, to make the charging process of the actual power pack faster, the kit comes equipped with a 60 W adapter that is capable of charging the power bank to 100% in just a few hours. Like many modern models, this one uses a micro USB input for charging, however, for the fastest charging we recommend using the cable that comes equipped with the unit.

Wide Compatibility

Although the package doesn’t come equipped with a Lightning cable, the power bank is compatible with Apple products, thanks to its high output USB port. This enables charging a recent iPhone model up to 6.2 times from full battery and the iPhone 7 and 8 up to 8-9 times. Likewise, you can charge a MacBook Pro 13 (and above) up to 1.2 times with this little battery pack, which is quite nice, considering that it weighs only 580 g. Being quite bulky for a portable model, it definitely shines as a convenient means of charging when your access to the power outlet is limited. Similarly, the appliance can handle other laptop models as well as Android-based products.

When it comes to the convenience aspects, this power bank model features a handy LED power wheel indicator that will show you the current battery charge status. Other things that come together with the battery are a travel pouch, a welcome guide that will help you understand how to operate the pack, and a wall charger with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

In the end, if you are looking for a great combination of quick charging and huge capacity, there is little doubt about it - the Anker PowerCore+ is the best power bank for the role, thanks to its combination of portability and extra battery capacity.

What's New?

The Anker PowerCore III is the third iteration of the company’s most popular power bank model simply because it combines a compact size, decent capacity of the battery and relatively low weight in one single package.

First off, let’s take a look at the actual ergonomics that make this particular power bank great and which ultimately separates it from the rest of the models in the same price range. With a size of 149 x 68.5 x 19.5 mm, it fits inside pretty much any bag or backpack with relative ease as well as some medium-sized clothing pockets. Combined with a weight of 240 g, you are getting a highly portable battery pack that can handle a few full charges for your phone or tablet. To make your life simpler and to prevent the battery from potential scratches, the kit comes with a standard-size carry pouch.

As for capacity, there are no real improvements over the previous products of the same line. Rated at 10000 mAh, it offers the same punch for the buck as the second and first-generation PowerCores but this time around you can charge your mobile and other USB-powered devices almost twice as fast. The improvements we have noticed are related to the charging time, which is slightly faster than the previous iterations of the PowerCore.

Power Gadgets Wirelessly or Via Cable

The other things that have been improved from previous models are the housing and the wireless charging technology. As for the first one, the top side of the body features a texturized panel that won’t let the mobile appliances slip if you put them on top of the battery. The second, on the other hand, can be used with all compatible mobile phones to charge them without the need of carrying a set of cables, which is quite handy for a portable charger. The wireless mode delivers up to 10 W of power and that should be enough to keep the gadgets running but don’t expect it to be lightning-fast in terms of charging speed.

Alternatively, if you need to revert to regular means of charging like using cables, don’t worry, the kit is equipped with a standard USB-C to USB-C cable that will serve that purpose just fine. Moreover, the 18 W USB-C port of the power pack enables quicker charging of any connected device, in contrast to the wireless charging mode.

Wrapping things up, the PowerCore III from Anker will be a decent option for users looking for a reliable, decently capacious and easy to use power bank. The wireless charging is definitely a welcome change, however, the charging rates are still not that impressive to use it as the main charging method.

Best Traveller's Companion

The INIU 10000mAh power bank is arguably one of the thinnest and lightest chargers on the market. With a weight of 198 grammes and measured at just 13.21 x 6.86 x 1.27 cm, it fits snugly into any of your pockets, purse or small bag. On top of that, it meets TSA specs for gear, which means it has an approved size and built in 37Wh to be taken in a carry-on bag on flights, making it a great solution for travellers.

Aside from the portable dimensions, the INIU 10000mAh power bank stands out for its quality build. It's made from the premium materials and covered with an industry-leading 3 years warranty, giving you confidence that the unit will last you for a long while. Add to that a cute-looking LED charge indicator in the form of a little paw, which gradually builds up until the unit's fully charged, and you can get an idea how this power bank looks.

Naturally, looks are not the only strong point of the unit. From the practical point of view, INIU's power bank provides lots of desirable benefits, too. To start off, it comes with a good set of accessories, including a travel pouch and a micro USB cable. And secondly, it has a handy LED flashlight—a nice and handy bonus, which allows it to be used as a torch in emergency situations.

Performance

However, about the most important reason why people prefer this model over many others is its performance, of course. The unit delivers ample power for a long time and can be used to feed as many as 3 devices simultaneously, making it a reliable on-the-go power source. On top of that, it displays universal compatibility. Due to the In and Out USB-C port and dual 3A (max) outputs, it allows you to charge all types of USB-enabled devices — from tablets to cell phones to even heated vests.

Another highlight of the INIU power bank is high-speed charging. To specify, when charged via a5V/1A adapter, it only takes from 1 to 2 hours on average, depending on the specs of your phone.

To summarize, this power bank definitely packs a big punch. If you're on the lookout for a reliable power source packed into a slim, travel-friendly body, be sure to take a close look at the INIU power bank.

Charge Everything with Anker

It's always upsetting to leave your charger at home or forget to charge your mobile gadget at all. Fortunately, with the Anker PowerCore at your disposal, you will forget that these issues ever existed. Sturdy, reliable, and capacious are perhaps the best words that you can use to describe this particular model.

To be more specific, the Anker PowerCore features a battery with a 20100 mAh capacity that will be enough to charge your smartphone several times and even fully charge a laptop once.

In order to keep the battery in good shape and to prolong its service life, the manufacturer recommends depleting the device's battery and fully charging it afterwards every 4 months. By doing this you won’t let the Li-ion cells inside the carrier disintegrate as fast as they normally would.

Thanks to an exclusive PowerIQ feature available only to Anker users, this model can charge your devices up to 40% faster than regular power banks. This is achieved via an 18W output power as well as the Intelligent Device-Detection that is able to identify the gadgets connected to the battery and adjust the output accordingly.

The detection system also lets you set the charging speed depending on the battery of the device and currently supports Apple, Amazon Kindle, and Samsung mobile gadgets and products made by other major manufacturers.

That being said, the device is well optimised even for the devices that are not currently supported. They won't, however, have the benefit of speed optimisation, leaving their charging a bit slower than we'd prefer.

Small yet Surprisingly Capable

The major drawback of the device is the fact that it weighs almost 340 grams, which is a lot for a 20100 mAh model. Other than that, the power bank is fairly small with the dimensions of 16.6 x 5.8 x 2.2 cm and can fit into almost any pocket, purse, or backpack. Moreover, the device comes equipped with a handy travel pouch. Although it is not sturdy enough to withstand hard hits or falls to the floor, its knitted pattern won’t let the device slip out of the pocket or your hand. On top of that, this model is supplied with a high-quality microUSB cable that will allow you to quickly charge the device from mains in just 7 hours. Be aware though, that you can’t charge the bank while it is already supplying power to other mobile gadgets since there is a risk of a sudden battery discharge and a voltage surge that will damage the carrier.

In conclusion, the PowerCore from Anker is a well-protected and capacious device that will not let you down, especially during long trips away from the electrical grids.

Quicker Than a Plug

JONKUU JPP-49 is one of those portable chargers that might look cheap at first but don’t let the appearance trick you, this power bank is still a formidable contender for the role of your favourite charging option, especially when it comes to charging mobile gadgets. So, what makes it special in the first place, you might ask? The answer is quite simple - compatibility with most of the modern mobile devices.

To start off, the internal battery pack offers up to 10000 mAh capacity, which enables charging even the most demanding phones up to 2-3 times with relative ease. To show up some numbers, the charger can fully juice up a Galaxy S8 up to 3 times, while the iPhone 7 can be charged from flat to a 100 up to 3 times. As for the newer 11 and 12 models, you should expect a full charge or two, the same goes for Galaxy S20 and similar Android devices like Pixel 4.

Certainly, 10000 mAh is simply not the biggest capacity that you can find for the price, that said, capacity is not the only thing that makes JPP-49 stand out. On top of the decent battery, we have a high-speed charging mode that puts slow charging rates of a standard power plug to shame. Using the dual 2.4 A USB output ports you should expect a 1.5 boost in charging speed while having two USB ports instead of just a single one enables charging two devices simultaneously. The only caveat to using two USBs at the same time being the tendency of the charger to get quite hot.

Small Yet Capable

To negate both overheating and unwanted risks, the A+ lithium-ion battery has a few built-in protection systems that will defend it and your gadgets against over-current and short circuits. Likewise, similarly to other devices in the same category, it will turn itself off if any overloads occur. As another convenience mean, the front panel of the appliance features a handy LCD indicator that will show you the current battery charge status from 0 to 100.

Size-wise, the charger is extremely small, compared to its counterparts with the same capacity. Measuring only 90 x 62 x 22 mm, it is one of the best options to have if you are looking for a portable charger. Although it doesn’t come with any carry or travel pouches, it is small enough to fit a pocket of a coat or jacket and will definitely fit any bag or backpack.

To sum things up, JONKUU JPP-49 proved to be a decent option for travels and daily use by combining compact size and good charging rates it is definitely one of the top picks in the budget price range.

What Is a Power Bank?

If you are a person who uses various electronic gadgets a lot, you probably noticed that the built-in battery capacity is often not enough for work, travel or even daily use. So what to do? The best solution to this, in our opinion, is to get an additional power pack or simply a power bank. This little yet convenient device allows you to effectively charge your smartphone, tablet, or even laptop wherever you are. You do not need a socket anymore! A standard portable charger consists of multiple batteries, coupled in various enclosures, which are combined into a power pack (or a battery pack) and this pack surely has enough power to charge one or even multiple devices simultaneously. There are USB and micro USB ports, so you can plug in and start charging. While some models only allow one-way charging, the more modern devices allow for charging both your gadgets and the battery pack at the same time. In this review, we offer you a compilation of the best power banks availabl for sale along with the tips on how to choose the right one to suit all your needs.

You may also be interested in our review of the latest models of Android smartphones that have become immensely popular with users this year. And if you've already got one, you're welcome to read about tablets.

What Features to Compare

Power Capacity

The first thing you need to think about when choosing a power bank is its power and capacity. They are measured in mAh and show the number of times your device can be charged. However, it is worth noting that the bigger the power bank capacity is, the heavier the device would be. The current mostly hints on the speed of charging and is measured in A (ampere). Usually, you will need 1A to charge a smartphone and 2A for a tablet. As for the capacity, to charge a smartphone, the power bank should have not less than 3000 mAh, but if your device is a tablet, you will need a capacity of 6000 mAh or more. Of course, if you have lots of devices and want to charge them all at the same time, you will need a much bigger capacity and more ports where you can plug in all your gadgets.

Compatibility and Functionality

Pay attention to compatibility and functionality. In the case you need to charge more than one device, you would wish to have extra ports. The availability of additional features like a flashlight will make the device exploitation more diverse, and various LED indicators will show you the remaining power capacity. Also, some power banks have additional adapters that can be used to charge a laptop. These features can be necessary, especially if you travel a lot.

Design

The design is really important as well. You will use the power bank a lot, so it should look good and be made of high-quality materials. Aluminium power banks look great and they are really nice to the touch. Needless to say that aluminium devices are more durable. You can even drop it and it will be safe. Plastic power banks, at the same time, are cheaper and lighter. As we mentioned before, the power banks become bulkier and heavier when they have more capacity, so if you need a power bank you can put into a pocket, you will probably have the capacity of 15000 mAh at most.
