The Rain Changes Nothing
When the rain starts hammering down, Berghaus Men's Deluge Waterproof Breathable Overtrousers allow you to remain unfazed. The Hydroshell™ fabric, featuring Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment, makes these overtrousers resistant even against the mightiest downpours. The fabric makes these hiking trousers brilliant for letting off steam on the hillside in all weathers. Aside from that, these things are also plenty practical.
The three-quarter side zips will be offering excellent ventilation and enabling quick changes, no fuss, no muss. The elasticated waist adopts drawcord adjustment, providing customised fits that hug the legs tight but not too tight, with articulated legs promoting easy movement without restricting the motion range.
The trousers are available ranging from S to XXXL but this is not all. To add more, you can choose between short, regular, and tall variations, eliminating bunching and making sure the trousers fit like they have been tailored for you.
We are not crazy about the nonexistent pockets and pocket openings. Setting that aside, Berghaus Men's Deluge Waterproof Breathable Overtrousers will enable conquering the great outdoors with confidence and aplomb so that you can leave it all behind and get out there.
More Pockets than Necessary
Aoli Ray trousers look pretty sleek, something that you cannot say about most fleece-lined, trekking models. Needless to say though, you're not buying these trousers to score fashion points. You're buying them to remain dry despite the clouds raining cats and dogs, something that these things have pretty much covered. In fact, the trousers are also windproof, keeping the wind out and offering excellent heat retention owing to the fleece lining.
The issue here is that the lining also makes them not breathable, making the pants excellent when the weather is not great but not great when the weather is excellent. Come winter, the trousers will prove godsent but, during summer, you might find them stuffy from time to time.
What's less dependant on the weather conditions are the six pockets these trousers are featuring, counting 2 deep zippered front pockets, 2 side pockets, and 2 back pockets with velcro openings. As you'd imagine, ample pockets make the trousers excellent for camping, fishing, backpacking, climbing, and so on. Add to that the polished-up hook that remains shut even pulled hard and you can trust these waterproof trousers where trust is paramount, exploring the scenery, overcoming new challenges, and even tackling sports in them.

Outdoors Classic
Regatta Men's Pack It Waterproof Overtrousers have been described as an outdoors classic and, compared to everything within this budget price bracket, we can easily get behind the sentiment.
First things first, the seam-sealed Isolite™ 5000 polyamide fabric offers not only moisture shedding but also breathable protection, keeping you dry inside and out. That being said, when the rain starts getting serious, the trousers might sometimes let the moisture slip, meaning that waterproofing here is not 100% secure.
On the upside, the taped seams allow you to attach these overtrousers to the trousers under them and make the fit 100% windproof. Also, the company's logo is light-reflective, making you visible at night, which can prove useful when things turn sour. Now, the elasticated waist will make the fit snug so, as long as you choose the right size (the options are ranging from XS to XXXL), the trousers will prove comfortable.
The last stop before wrapping things up are the two side pocket openings that will grant you access to the bottom trousers.
In short, Regatta Men's Pack It Waterproof Overtrousers are more than you can reasonably expect from overtrousers at this price point, promoting easy movement and keeping you comfy throughout.
The Belt Approach
7VSTOHS Men's Fleece Windproof Water-Resistant Trousers are basically everything that the name implies. The trousers are not 100% waterproof but they're close enough to make the difference negligible. Adopting fleece lining and a polyester shell, these trousers protect you from wind and provide heat retention, keeping you warm when the temperature starts to disappoint.
The people behind this product claim that the stretchy waist keeps the fit tight but the waist here is not elasticated, so we would not recommend relying upon that "stretchy" part. To offset that, the trousers come equipped with belt loops, which's what we would suggest using to customise the fit.
Besides that, these things are not that different from most waterproof trousers. The two side pockets are featuring zippers, so you can keep valuable belongings safe when conquering the hills. In addition to these two, there's also one back pocket that's also zippered, so you're offered some compartmentalisation, which's always nice.
Last but not least, the trousers are easy to upkeep and maintain, as long as you choose cold water settings and keep the drying to a minimum. In other words, it is hard to make a valid argument against these trousers.

Velcro Ankle Openings
Mountain Warehouse Pakka are relatively basic, though you can argue that's the product biggest strength. Featuring pocket access and velcro ankle openings, these overtrousers let you easily put them over regular trousers. Plus, the ankle openings accommodate walking boots and keep the elements out so that you remain dry and comfortable there. In the meantime, the model's taped seams are preventing the liquids from leaking through the seams and stitching, making sure that the garment's every inch is waterproof. Before that though, you have the nylon construction that, incorporating the IsoDry™ treatment, offers 1500mm waterproofing, more than enough to protect you from nasty rains.
These are objective advantages. The subjective disadvantages primarily revolve around the legs' size that some might find long and wide, though you can choose between 4 and 28 UK sizes, so we're talking about negligible discomfort here at worst.
We would not call the packaway bag that comes with these trousers negligible though because it is plenty convenient and, considering that the trousers are already pretty cheap, an excellent addition to a solid package. So, if you're looking for affordable women's walking and trekking trousers, these are it.
What Are Waterproof Trousers?
From trekking to mountaineering, from camping to backpacking, from walking to hiking, we have different terms to describe going outdoors because there are different ways you can go about challenging the great outdoors. Aside from the issues that may arise from the terrain and the environment, you can never discount the weather factor. Even light drizzling can make the task at hand difficult enough, whereas considerable downpours can force you to go back home.
Wearing waterproof trousers though, you can probably remain safe and comfortable there. More often than not, these trousers are housing considerable water repellent treatment, considerable enough to withstand heavy rainfalls without letting the moisture in. Apart from that, trousers are trousers, so we're talking about standard attributes that define and separate them, including different pocket counts (and openings), seams (sometimes sealed, sometimes taped, sometimes open), elasticated (and not necessarily elasticated) waists, and more.
