PROS

The high-tech PI film heating element protects the model from spill damage and makes cleaning an easy task. You can choose between a Fahrenheit or Celsius scale. You can also set the temperature as high as 70°C or as low as 25°C.

CONS

The model only works with flat-bottomed mugs.

OUR VERDICT

The Cosori CO194-CW goes the extra mile and takes the drinks that you like so much on this journey with it. Plus, with its brushed stainless steel housing, the machine looks more like an expensive appliance and not some affordable, single-purpose device.

PROS

The heating element has sufficient resistance to high temperatures and is pretty great at transferring heat without noticeable heat loss. As a wireless charger, this device can even recharge phones in bulky cases.

CONS

The heating surface scratches easily.

OUR VERDICT

The SCOBUTY 55С is quite alright at keeping drinks warm. But, apart from that, it can also recharge Qi-enabled gadgets. So, finish the drink, remove the cup, and place your smartphone on the warming base, and this mug warmer/wireless charger will do the rest.

PROS

The model works directly from the mains, so you can use it even without a USB AC adapter. With its cable measuring 1.5 m, you won't be especially tied to the nearby socket. Measuring 120 x 120 x 13 mm, the model requires very little desktop space.

CONS

The touch switch does not always respond.

OUR VERDICT

The Duokon 05zi7smb1k-02, despite its faint economy-model vibe, is more versatile than most mug warmers. With its low heating mode (40°C ~ 50℃), you can keep cocoa and milk warm, whereas the high heating mode (55℃ ~ 60℃) will prevent tea and coffee from getting cold.

PROS

The non-skid feet keep this device stable even on slippery surfaces. The high-strength glass surface is abrasion- and scratch-resistant. When you lift the cup, the heating element works for 5 minutes and then automatically shuts down.

CONS

The power cord tangles easily.

OUR VERDICT

Though the QLG&S SLCW001-2 tries to keep things pretty simple, this might be the smartest model in its weight class. Besides its multiple strengths, using the timing button, you can adjust the timer between 1 and 9 hours or make it keep the temperature constant.

PROS

The stainless steel heating element will not catch a rust case or start corroding with time. Utilising a USB connection, this mug warmer can draw power from whatever USB-endowed device you have at hand, be it a laptop or a power bank.

CONS

The warmer's not great with ceramic mugs.

OUR VERDICT

The Corfee C-02 comes without complicated controls. Instead, this device goes with a no-nonsense approach, doing nothing but keeping hot drinks warm at ~60°C. Appearance-wise, you can pick between black plastic and dark or light wood.

Cosori (CO194-CW)

Looking the Part, Warming the Part

Even the best coffee mug warmers are not the most sophisticated devices. That being said, there's something different about the Cosori CO194-CW. To start with, the model looks gorgeous, with the high-end brushed stainless steel construction not just ensuring long-term use and protecting the machine from rust and corrosion but also substantially improving its appearance.

Above the brushed steel housing, this warmer's adding high-tech PI film heating element. Besides protecting the machine from spills, thus eliminating spill damage from the possible equation, the PI film also makes cleaning hassle-free.

The spill-resistant treatment also includes the LED screen. Using this screen (and the touch controls to its left), you can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius systems as well as control the temperature. To that end, the machine will let you slow down the cooling speed or go the opposite way, keeping the drink as warm as 158 degrees Fahrenheit/70 degrees Celsius.

Where the model takes a somewhat wrong turn is with its compatibility disposition. Sure, the heating element works with glass, ceramic, iron, and steel mugs but the mugs have to be 100% flat-bottomed and, you'd surprised, that describes very few mugs. Even so, the Cosori CO194-CW runs circles around 9/10 coffee mug warmers.

SCOBUTY (55С)

Coffee Mug and Warmer Set

The SCOBUTY 55С is pretty much what cup warmers should be like. First off, the high-quality heating element provides reliable high temperature resistance and is excellent at transferring heat with minimal loss. Second, its panel is waterproof, so an occasional spill will do nothing but require a wipe with a damp cloth.

Regardless, one could make an argument that this device's biggest selling point (and a fairly unique one at that) is the fact that this handsome fellow also hangs with wireless chargers. To elaborate, using its mode selector, you can toggle between mug warmer and wireless charger modes. So, once you've finished the drink, you can always place a gadget that supports wireless charging on the warming base and recharge that gadget. Needless to say, this is neither what we usually expect from mug warmers nor what we're looking for, but the feature is appreciated nonetheless.

Maybe this is because the device juggles both mug-warming and phone-charging functions but the heating (and, again, also the charging) surface scratches easily, so we would suggest proceeding with caution. As long as you do that, the SCOBUTY 55С should provide immense value with its 2-in-1 functionality and reliable long-term performance.

Duokon (05zi7smb1k-02)

The Right Size

The Duokon 05zi7smb1k-02 (really rolls off the tongue, wouldn't you say?) is sufficient, that's the word we'll go with. Despite its plasticky, somewhat cheap-looking appearance, this device is anything but cheap. For one, the high-strength aluminium shell protects the heating element from shock damage and the whole thing from deformation. Likewise, the heat-resistant glass panel is a sturdy and durable addition that you cannot easily break or even scratch.

But what tips the scales more than the rest is the mug warmer's size. At 120 x 120 x 13 millimetres, this is the most compact device on this list and, as far as we're aware, maybe even the most compact model in its price bracket. Plus, despite sacrificing size, this petite machine is just as compatible with flat-bottomed glass, ceramic, and metal mugs as its less space-saving peers.

With its one-button operation, you can switch between low temperature heating (40 ~ 50 degrees Celsius) and high temperature heating (55 ~ 60). The only caveat here is that the touch switch does not always respond, so you'll have to push it twice sometimes. Other than that, the Duokon 05zi7smb1k-02 will have no issues trading blows with the most expensive electric mug warmers.

QLG&S (SLCW001-2)

A Smart Warmer

The QLG&S SLCW001-2 keep things simple but without approaching the 'basic' territory. Using its size as the springboard, the model measures 120 x 120 x 15 millimetres, so even the busiest workspaces or countertops should be able to accommodate this device. The jury is still out on its cord though. Without nylon braiding, the cord seems to always get tangled, which is not the worst thing that can happen but a little annoying nonetheless.

What's not annoying, however, is the two heating mode options that this device lets you choose from. With the low heating mode (40 - 50 degrees Celsius), you can prevent milk or cocoa from getting cold, whilst the high heating mode (55 - 60 degrees) will keep tea, coffee, or hot as warm as it should be.

To go with these modes, the model also includes a timing button. As you would expect, with it, you can set up a timer, selecting between 1-9 hours or setting the time to keep the temperature constant. Now, remove the cup and the empty heating element will operate for 5 minutes and automatically shut down.

We can also talk about the non-skid feet on the bottom, the waterproof panel, or the high-strength glass surface but, even without discussing these strong points, the QLG&S SLCW001-2 makes quite a compelling case.

Corfee (C-02)

Less Modern, More Timeless

The Corfee C-02 goes less the modern route and more the timeless path. Ditching LED screens and touch panels, this simple device works with a wooden-like, making its appearance a little more elegant than the usual high-tech outline that these mug warmers are sporting more often than not.

Of course, since the model comes without buttons or switches, removing controls altogether, there's nothing you can do about the temperature. The one and only option that will be available to you is keeping the drink around 60 degrees Celsius, which is fine since that's the temperature that tea and coffee should be kept around anyway, but having a different option to choose but would have nice as well.

On the upside, despite its non-modern attitude, the model comes equipped with a stainless steel heating element, meaning you won't have to worry about this device catching a corrosion case or forming rust patches. A little less upside-y, so to speak, is the fact that this mug warmer's compatible with glass and metal cups but not necessarily with ceramic.

Assuming you're fine with that and don't care for fancy settings or sophisticated controls, the Corfee C-02 should not leave you wanting more. Plus, with its USB connection, this model can work from any USB-enabled device.

What Is a Coffee Mug Warmer?

You want to have your favourite cup of joe, tea, or cocoa right there next to you, staying nice and hot for hours so you can enjoy it at your leisure. The issue is that it isn't possible without extra assistance. As far as we're concerned, mug warmers provide that extra assistance better than just about any other tool on the market today.

These little heating plates are able to keep your favourite warm drink at the right temperature for hours on end. At the same time, certain models will allow you to heat up the drink too. The biggest difference between these models is usually the overall package. However, there are many little details too, details that we will cover a little more in-depth in the "What to look for" section right below this one.

These guidelines and suggestions will help you pick the right electric mug warmer. That "right" product will make sure to keep your coffee/tea/cocoa/hot chocolate/any other drink like that nice and warm all day long.

An elegant and functional coffee table will prove an excellent home to a mug warmer. Alternatively, a new standing desk will be able to serve that function too.

What Features to Compare

Mug warmers keep your favourite beverages warm. We're not dealing with rocket science here. These products are not that complicated. At the same time, there are certain details we wouldn't recommend glossing over and parts that discern good warmers from subpar models.

Compatible Mug Surfaces

These warmers are there to keep the drink warm. The drinks come in a cup. Ipso facto, the warmer should be able to fit and work with different cups. Generally speaking, your average electric mug warmer shouldn't have any issues with glass and ceramic cups. Other than that, different models might be able to work with different metals, enamel, tile, high-temperature plastic, the list goes on. Just keep in mind the mugs that you have at home and/or looking to use and check whether the model is compatible with the mug's material.

Power

This is a difficult topic. To keep things simple, how much power your prospective mug warmer draws/is able to draw will determine its energy efficiency as well as its heating speed. More often than not, these warmers meander between 15 and 25 watts. They do not draw nor require too much power, so you should be fine on that front with just about any model.

Controls

Again, we're not dealing with high-tech electronics here. These warmers seldom feature too many controls and these controls are rarely all that sophisticated. Generally speaking, it all starts and ends with an on/off switch. More often than not, you will find a power indicator next to that switch. Sometimes, certain models will include an LED screen with more sophisticated controls like °C/°F temperature conversion but nothing too complicated.

Beverage Temperature Range

This is probably the biggest determining factor that separates different models. Mid-range mug warmers are able to keep your drink somewhere around 55 degrees Celsius. However, high-end models will let you change/adjust that temperature. As you would imagine, you'll be able to use a model like that with many different drinks (and not just drinks too). Plus, you'll have the ability to keep your favourite beverage at that perfect temperature.

Mug and Overall Dimensions

There isn't much to cover here. Some warmers come supplied with a mug. Others do not. As for dimensions, your average model will measure somewhere around 2.5 x 12 x 12 centimetres. More often than not, these warmers are compact enough to be portable. You'll likely have no issues bringing your prospective mug warmer with you on a camping trip.
