Apart from that, there are not too many washing machines that could tussle with this appliance, and we haven't seen any washer-dryer combination units that impressed us more than this one.

At the same time, the Direct Injection tech will make sure that water and detergent are pre-mixed to increase penetration into fibres and enable the detergent enzymes to activate as fast as possible, adding extra cleaning power.

The tech allows the machine to remove more than 100 stains at 20 degrees Celcius. These stains can range from pizza and coffee to pen ink, mud, bronzers, and more.

Though the tech here is impressive and so are the features, the machine's specs sell this product as much as anything else. Able to produce 1600 revolutions per minute, the appliance will have no issues removing the toughest stains.

As much as we like its grey/silver accents, the machine's looks are not that important here. What's important is all the tech the unit's packing that makes the appliance so effective and reliable.

First things first, the anti-stain system will be able to remove as many as 20 tough everyday stains in one wash without pre-soaking. Managing drum rotation, temperature, detergent, and water as cleverly as possible, this tech makes sure the clothes come out squeaky-clean.

Apart from that, the Woolmark platinum care tech uses the machine's delicate wash programme to ensure spotless results all whilst protecting the fabric's softness at the same time.

The machine's motor is quiet more often than not. That being said, when drying clothes, the appliance goes above 80 decibels, so we wouldn't necessarily call the entire unit quiet.

On the upside, the appliance's specs are solid. It is able to reach 1400 revolutions per minute and the capacity will let you stuff clothing items adding to 8 kilograms inside the machine.

In short, the Hotpoint WDAL8640G will have no issues getting the job done and looking sleek in the process.

The Indesit IWDC6125 is as reliable as these washer dryer combo machines get, though it is not as impressive on paper as its competition within the same price bracket.

Of course, that's partially because the people behind Indesit were never the biggest fans of packing their appliances with various questionable features and naming the technologies that these appliances use to secure solid results.

The machine gets the job done without compromising clothes integrity, that's the bottom line.

The Cotton 40 cycle will be able to extend extra care to cotton garments, all whilst effectively removing stains at 40 degrees Celcius within 45 minutes.

At the same time, the Special Sport programme will give you fresh, clean kits taking the same 45 minutes, cleaning and preparing non-iron sportswear items quicker than most washing machines.

Meanwhile, the Special Shoes cycle will make sure that the runners come out spotless within an hour and without damaging the drum.

The company's condensing tumble dryers have never been especially quiet but here, incorporating anti-vibration sidewalls, the engineers behind this product have been able to reduce noise and keep the machine stable and secure.

The machine's flaws are more or less limited to the relatively underwhelming (1200 rpm) spin speed.

The Hotpoint FDL9640K is black, as you can probably tell. Since these machines are usually adopting light finishes, we can definitely get behind the somewhat unique aesthetic.

Do the appliance's advantages end with its interesting/attractive appearance? Not really, although we've seen more impressive washer dryer machines before.

It's not as if we've any major gripes with the unit, it is that most machines on this list have more different features to offer. For starters, the machine comes without a delay feature, which is a shame since it is an excellent feature, even though rarely used.

The appliance could also use anti-vibration sidewalls or its successors spreading drum action mechanism. We're not saying that the unit is loud but we're not saying the opposite either.

The machine definitely has its advantages though. The anti-stain tech secures excellent cleaning results without pre-treating clothes and using expensive chemicals. The anti-allergy system outputs extra rinse and high temperature to neutralise and remove most (>99.9%) major allergens.

Its 9-kilogram washing capacity will let you dump considerable loads inside the machine, whilst the 6-kilogram drying capacity is enough to dry many heavy clothing items at the same time.
