Powerful Bike For Long Adventures
Those who are looking for the top-quality electric mountain bike that would be able to provide a comfortable and quick ride may like the GUNAI MX01.
First of all, this high-end bike features a very powerful brushless gear motor. Working at 1000 Watts, it allows the bike to speed up to 45 km/h in a pretty short time, which makes it one of the fastest models on the market. Another perk is that the built-in 48V/10AH battery allows you to travel a whopping 70-90 kilometres in an electric mode. That's almost twice more compared to average e-bikes.
Besides the electric mode, the bicycle offers you two other ones - twist throttle and pedal-only mode. Thanks to that, you can alternate the settings and save the battery charge to ride longer distances.
We also really like that this advanced model is fitted with an LCD display that shows you all the important information concerning your ride (current speed, average speed and battery charge). The display has a decent size of 3.7" and is rainproof. The numbers on the screen are big and comfortable to read both under direct sunlight and in the dark thanks to a backlit feature.
Ride With Safety
The other cool thing about this electric mountain bike is that it comes with a LED headlight allowing for safe rides in the nighttime. What is more, you can have enjoyable rides not only at any time of the day but also in any weather. The model features mudguards that protect your clothes from rain splashes. Even better, the bike has fat 10-cm tires that provide great traction and allow for riding on different types of terrain including wet ground, sand, tall grass and even snow. The bike also features an aluminium alloy rear shock that makes rides on the bumpy roads more comfortable.
Last but not least, the model features an ergonomic 6061 Aluminium alloy frame with a foldable design. The frame is very durable and can support riders with a maximum weight of up to 230 kilos.
Wrapping things up, if you love mountain bike tours and need a durable and reliable bicycle, we highly recommend the GUNAI MX01. This model is not cheap yet what it gives you in return more than justifies its price.

Solid Option For City Rides
If you need a good electric bike for both rides around the city and occasional mountain tours, we recommend checking out the Ancheer Premium Electric Mountain Bike.
Starting off, this model features an ultra-lightweight yet strong and durable aluminium frame which can support the weight of up to 150 kilos. This isn't the biggest max weight load we've seen, of course, yet for most average users it should be sufficient. In addition, this bike has a foldable design that provides you with the convenience to quickly fold it down and carry in the trunk of your car when a need arises.
Next, this bicycle is fitted with a decent motor that draws 250 Watts of power. Admittedly. it isn't insanely powerful, but it will be enough for city strolls and recreational rides in the country. When it comes to the battery, it holds up fine and provides around 24 to 50-km ride from one charge - a decent result for a bike at this price.
Like higher-end models, this one is fitted with a high-quality Shimano gearing and shifters that help you effortlessly shift between 21 speeds. The bike also has front and rear disc brakes that ensure quick stops.
When it comes to the wheels, they are quite standard here with the diameter of 26" and magnesium alloy integrated rims. The wheels have the anti-slip resistant fat tires; and thanks to that, the bike can confidently ride on a muddy or snowy road. Yet, what makes these wheels different is the fact that they are much lighter compared to wheels on similar models (only ⅔ of their weight). Plus, the model is fitted with a full suspension and rear shock-absorber that smooth out bumps and allow you to ride over curbs and potholes.
Comes Almost Assembled
To make the wheel disassembly process fast and hassle-free, the manufacturer added the Quick-release (QR) skewers. Thanks to that, you will be able to remove the wheels in the blink of an eye to fit them in the trunk of your car or to pump up when needed.
If you are eager to go on a bike ride and don’t want to waste time assembling the bike, luckily for you it comes already 85% assembled. Thanks to that, this model will also be the right fit for those who don’t have much experience in setting up bicycles.
In conclusion, those who look for an electric mountain bike from a budget price range should definitely take a closer look at the Ancheer Premium Electric Mountain Bike. Fitted with no unnecessary thrills, it is solidly built, comfortable to ride on and holds up fine to all types of terrain.

Affordable Model With High-Quality Gear
With the Hiriyt Electric Mountain Bike, you will be able to enjoy your thrilling adventures anywhere, at any time. This model is pretty basic and affordable yet it offers almost the same functionality as more expensive counterparts.
To begin with, this e-bike is fitted with high-quality gearing from Shimano - the one that is used for high-end models. It is durable and requires minimal maintenance. The bicycle also boasts great versatility and allows you to switch between 21 speeds while riding. Although the motor does not impress with power (only 250 Watts), it still allows the bike to reach a respectable speed of 30 km/h, making it possible to cover long distances in a short time. Like most of its counterparts, this bike has a few modes: E-bike mode, Assisted mode, and Normal bike mode. Depending on the setting you are using, the bike can ride from 25 to 60 kilometres after a full charge.
Moving on, the 26” alloy rims with MTB tires make this model well-suitable for mountain rides and long tours on uneven terrains. The tires are pretty thick and have anti-slip properties to let you ride safely under any weather conditions. The built-in headlight is another thing that adds to extra safety.
Turns Into a Simple Mountain Bike With Ease
This electric bike comes with an aluminium alloy frame and rims, which makes the bike durable and lightweight at the same time. However, if you want to make it even lighter and reduce its weight to about 15 kilos, you can easily remove the electric parts (motor and battery) and use it as an average mountain bike.
This model has an ergonomic detail design, bringing with it the convenience of letting you adjust the padded seat, RST, tire, and handlebar according to your size and build. The handlebar has non-slip grips, but some users wish that they would be a bit softer. Yet, we don’t consider it as a real disadvantage.
The last thing we want to mention is that this model is easy to park. It is fitted with front and rear breaks to stop with ease on any type of terrain. What is more, there is an ergonomic kickstand that provides extra stability when you’re not using the bike.
In the end, the Hiriyt Electric Mountain Bike is a feature-packed model for comfortable and secure riding. It doesn't cost an arm and leg but manages to keep up with more expensive models in terms of functionality and convenience of use.

What Is an Electric Montain Bike?
Mountain bikes are great because they allow you to explore the roads that standard bikes cannot handle at all. The issue with mountain bikes is that they're not as nimble as city bikes with skinny tires, so you need to buy two bikes when you want to commute via bicycle means too.
Cue electric mountain bikes. These bikes go anywhere. You can hit the trails, climb the mountains, challenge the off-roads on the weekends and then use the bike to commute on weekdays. The battery-powered electric motors make e-MTBs not only versatile but also more conducive towards much more variable adventures since you can climb the steepest hills and crush most slopes that bikes without motors cannot even dream to challenge. Not unlike standard trail bikes though, electric MTBs do not forget to include drivetrains with ~21 speeds, providing more terrain variation and improving the bike's terrain adaptability.
We're not saying that electric mountain bikes are cheap though. Quite the opposite. When you do not have the financial means, you can try touring bikes. With these bikes, you can have long bike trips with comfort. On the opposite side, you have folding bikes, the most practical and convenient vehicles inside the city.
What Features to Compare
Frame
Any and every bike starts with the frame. The frame is the bicycle's cornerstone, foundation, its bedrock, the main ingredient, and the key element. When the frame's no good, you can pack the e-bike with the most premium components and sophisticated circuitry and they would not make any difference. More often than not, electric mountain bikes are made from high-strength aviation-grade aluminium to make the construction tough and sturdy but also not heavy so that you can go from prowling through the woods and conquering challenging trails to slicing and dicing across the city roads without lugging extra weight. That being said, the more lightweight the bicycle is, the less weight it is usually able to support, so that's something you ought to pay attention too.
Motor and Battery
Electric mountain bikes are electric bikes first and mountain bikes second, so the motor and the battery will determine its worth as much as the next component. Most e-MTBs come fitted with motors that fluctuate around 350 watts, with some reaching 500, and premium models even approaching 1000 watts. Though this is not the only indicator and you also have to consider peak wattage that can vary between motors with identical base wattage, these numbers will usually tell you the speed that the bike is able to reach, with 350-watt motors usually capping at ~32 km/h and motors that go above 500 watts able to hit 40 km/h and more.
Suspension and Wheels
Mountain bikes can accommodate commuting needs, especially when they're electric. That being said, these bikes are designed to attack trails, off-roads, and mountains, hence the name. These terrains are not as polished as city roads, so you need an adequate suspension system to absorb shocks and make the ride nice and smooth, even when the ground is anything but smooth. As far as wheels are concerned, electric mountain bikes normally come equipped with double-walled aluminium alloy rims to handle bumps and potholes and MTB tires to let you tame the road less travelled. Sometimes, these bikes are adopting fat tires though, the differences between which we've reviewed below.
Brakes, Gearing, and Extras
With e-MTBs, brakes and gearing follow the common playbook deployed across most bicycles. The extras are the same, from LCD screens and different consoles to switch between the bike's e-modes to adjustable saddles, handlebars, grips, and more. Also, you have the pedals. When the pedals are flat, you can ride the bike wearing any shoes.
Fat Tires vs. Skinny Tires
There are many advantages to fat tires. First and foremost, because these tires do not dig into the ground as much as skinny tires (thanks to the tires' increased surface), you're able to float over snow, sand, wet stone, muddy paths, and more. Decreasing the bike's and biker's cumulated pressure via extra contact with the surface, these bikes do not slip even when the ground is wet and do not crack when they come into contact with icy corners.
You do not need to inflate them as much. Even when the pressure drops as low as 10 PSI, the tires remain grippy and reliable. Plus, when the pressure is low, they're able to absorb more shock, making the ride smooth even when you're hitting pebbles, small sticks, potholes, and more.
Bikes with fat tires are better for beginners. Again, because the contract surface is increased, the bike gives you improved balance, we're talking rudimentary physics here. Even the least experienced riders can get used to these bikes within hours, making newbies less likely to injure themselves (also because you need to apply more pedalling to make the bike go as fast as bikes with skinny tires).
The downside is that fat tires are not as nimble as skinny tires and even standard MTB tires (again, with more size, you have more rolling resistance, thus more acceleration required). On the one hand, that means that bikes with fat tires allow you to exercise even more than standard bikes. On the other hand, you do not always want to exercise and that's understandable. They're also more expensive than standard tires but the prices are going down, so you purchase one these days without breaking the bank.
Skinny Tires
Skinnies have been around for a minute now, so they're more affordable than wide tires, that's where we'll start with them. As you would expect, skinny tires allow you to accelerate without spinning the pedals as hard as you do with fat tires.
Since there's less rolling resistance, electric bikes with skinny and MTB tires do not burn through the battery's charge as fast as e-bikes with fat tires do.
Turning and steering with skinny tires takes less effort than with fat tires, that much is certain. You can utilize the entire tire, which's hard to achieve when the tires are wide. Plus, the tires lean less into corners, so, from one perspective, they're more comfortable to manoeuvre.
All that being said, skinny tires are less stable and more skittish than wide tires, so you need to make sure you're maintaining perfect balance. Also, too much throttle can easily overwhelm the tires' reduced contact patch.
