Improved Battery
After long years of research, the folks behind eelo have come up with the innovative e-bike that can help people arrive to work quicker and in style. The eelo 1885 is a next-generation foldable bike that is extremely compact yet it packs a big punch. The main selling point is that it's designed with a unique, high-capacity LG lithium-Ion battery sitting in the central top tube of the frame.
The company has been long developing an advanced battery pack along with LG engineers. As a result, the bike can ride up to 65 km when you stick to the throttle-only mode and even more if you're doing some pedalling. While batteries of most electric bikes give out before even hitting 30 km, this one is different. Sure, the battery here takes around 6 hours to recharge but that really makes sense when you're going to cover long distances. To add more, the battery adopts all protection mechanisms that prevent overcharge, overcurrent, and more.
Unlike most e-bikes that don't feel confident when leaving city roads, this one will help you ride on most terrains with comfort. It's fitted with a brushless 250-watt motor and the eelo intelligent controller that altogether give very responsive and energy-efficient ride experience. That's why the bike can take you up any hill and ride even against strong winds in powered-only mode. However, when you need more control, you can use the thumb throttle to start off and decide how much assistance you want from the battery. With just a push of the button, you'll be able to change the gears up or down. No chains jumping off the sprockets.
Super Compact
To keep you aware of the riding status, the bike is equipped with a multifunctional LCD display that shows the current speed, battery status, and even the outside temperature. The back-lit display is completely waterproof, so you can safely hit muddy grounds in bad weather. For increased safety in the storm or at night, the bike comes fitted with high-quality LED lights.
After the ride, this bike is very quick to fold away. At 60cm x 38cm x 58cm, it's also very easy to store in the tightest of places. You'll be able to stow and stash the bike under a work desk, in the trunk of a car and even bring it with you on the underground train. Afterwards, the bike is easy to unfold and get road-ready again.
In all, if you're going to take the longest journeys, the eelo 1885 can become your reliable assistant. With the advanced high-capacity battery and thumb throttle control with E-DRIVE technology, it's fun and easy to ride.

Well-Balanced Model
If you need a solid folding e-bike under £500, we offer you to consider the FIIDO D3. It's a well-balanced model that surely has some trade-offs but basically offers very good performance and can give more expensive models a run for their money.
The bike comes already pre-assembled, meaning you won't waste much time putting different parts and complicated mechanisms together. So, in less than half an hour, you'll be able to give the bike a test run. While the bicycle has one speed only, the gearing ratio here is quite low; therefore, you'll be able to climb moderate hills in a throttle-only mode without breaking a sweat. But when the slope exceeds 30 degrees, you'll better switch to the power-assisted mode and help the motor with some pedalling. Do note that the assisted riding speed may be affected by your weight and road conditions but, in general, the maximum speed this bike can reach makes 25 km/h, more than enough to satisfy most commuters.
When it comes to battery life, the bike offers a quite modest electric range of 10-20 km with up to 35 km in assisted mode, which is not that bad all things considered. To recharge the battery, you won't need to remove it - just plug the cable into the port under the aluminium alloy body.
Grab and Go
Made from durable aluminium alloy, the frame of the bike is quite tough yet lightweight. At 17~19.5kg, it's quite easy to carry around when not in use. What's more, the quick-latch mechanism allows you to collapse the bicycle within a matter of seconds. With the folded size measuring just 123cm x 35cm x 60cm, you'll be able to store it under your office desk or haul in and out of the elevator. Needless to say, you'll be able to move it into your house and store on the balcony.
For sure, the lightweight bike like this hasn't been designed without trade-offs. The recommended max load of this bike makes only 120 kg, meaning bulky individuals won't be able to ride this bike without worrying about safety and longevity. Yet, it should fit nicely adults of average build. The saddle tube can be adjusted from 70 cm to 105 cm, whereas the handlebar can be set anywhere from 95 cm to 110 cm.
All things considered, the FIIDO D3 e-bike isn't that speedy and heavy-duty to impress, but the acceleration and climbing capacity it provides is strong enough to enable comfortable city riding.

One of the Smallest
If you're looking for an environmental-friendly commuting solution that won't break the bank, you may like the Windgoo Electric Bike. It's a great little bicycle for short distances and zero-incline roads that is completely emission-free, saving both your money and the environment.
Even though foldable bikes are supposed to be compact by nature, the Windgoo e-bike is really tiny compared to the majority of models we've reviewed before. The main thing that differs it from others is the set of 12-inch wheels that makes the footprint of the bike less than anything. That being said, the wheels can tackle most surfaces without making riders feel every bump. They come armed with durable air-filled tires made of high-quality rubber, ensuring excellent traction on any terrain. So, you can expect this small bike to hit muddy grounds without slipping and sliding across the trails. What makes it even more attractive for off-road riding is the fact that the bicycle has an IP54 waterproof rating. And if you think that the bike may not feel that secure when drizzling, you can have peace of mind knowing that twin disc brakes can bring the bike to an abrupt stop instantly. The brake levers are quite sensitive, so you won't need to press too hard to activate them.
For City Rides
Although the Windgoo is fitted with one of the tiniest sets of wheels among folding e-bikes, it's quite comfortable to ride on. It doesn't feel that small and its frame geometry is comparable to mid-sized bikes when it comes to seat height and distance to the handlebars. Also, the seat is able to go from quite low to high enough for almost any body build. That's why we believe most adults will find this bike comfy and will be able to ride it without noticing a difference. By the way, the bike's design resembles the shape of a dolphin.
As a nice touch, the bike comes partially assembled, so it's simple to get it up and running. Speaking of tech specs, the bike comes with a 50-Watt high-speed motor and can easily reach 25 km. On a full charge, the bike is able to ride a 15-25 km range and needs only 3 hours to juice up again.
To round things up, despite a bit limited range and small wheels, the Windgoo bike's ideal for short-distance travel, getting around the city and riding up the shops. Without a doubt, for the price and battery power, it does a great job.

For the Smoothest Ride
Whereas models with 14-inch or even 12-inch tires are the most compact ones as they produce a smaller folded package, many users find them less stable than their larger counterparts. Also, they usually provide a bit bumpier ride on rough surfaces, thus, they are used mainly for commuting only. However, if you're looking for a more versatile model or live in a fairly hilly region, you may need something more powerful. The Lixada HIMO C20 fits that bill perfectly.
What separates this model from others is the 20-inch wheels that boast excellent gradeability and let riders tackle steeper hills without pedalling. Also, they offer a more stable ride and are generally better than the smaller wheels when it comes to some obstacles and bumps.
All that being said, the bike is still quite compact when not in use, so we can admit it offers a good balance between folded size and performance. What's more, the Lixada HIMO C20 excels at its ability to ride up to 50 km in pure electric mode after a full charge. In moped mode, it offers a generous 80 km range to meet the needs of leisure riders and those who often cover fairly long distances. That great performance is largely achieved owing to the high-capacious 10AH Lithium battery.
Six Speeds to Choose From
Another thing that sets the Lixada HIMO C20 apart from the competition is the Shimano shifting system with 6 different speeds to choose from. The system is precise, fast, accurate and very responsive - you'll be able to quickly customise the gear by holding the lever. On the maximum speed, the bike can go 25 km. Compared to smaller wheel models, the bike has more momentum and takes less effort to sustain constant speeds. And if you go extra fast, you can be sure you'll be able to stop at any moment owing to the efficient front and rear brakes. The braking distance makes 4 meters on dry surfaces and 6 meters on wet roads.
Finally, we would like to say a few words about extras since this bike has got lots of them. It comes fitted with a high-resolution LCD display that makes it look very high-end and shows you all the real-time driving data (mode switch, mileage record, and more). Moreover, the bike is equipped with ultra-bright LED headlight and rear light for extra safety at night. Other features that the bike is packed with are not that different from what we're used to.
In all, the Lixada HIMO C20 is a giant in the world of folding bikes, but in a good way. With extra-large 20-inch wheels, it's still manageable and very customisable owing to the Shimano 6-speed shifting system. Undoubtedly, it offers an excellent riding quality and is able to climb rather steep hills.

Easy and Quick to Set Up
If you agree that '"positive workplace leads to positive work" and believe that the quality of your commute affects your attitude to work each day, it's time to purchase an agile commuting bike that will be light on your wallet and fun to ride. The C4 E-bike is exactly like that. It's ideal for those individuals who want to travel easier, while also helping the environment. So, if you have to go to a heavily populated and congested area each day, it can easily take away the pains of commuting.
Right after unpacking, you'll see that the folks behind Whirlwind have done their best to simplify your life at the very first step. The bike comes neatly packaged with the tires already pre-pumped, meaning it's ready to go out-of-the-box. Overall, the bike is well-designed and stoutly-built. Actually, it's hand-assembled in the UK by a team of professionals, using top-quality materials. Since the Whirlwind brand specialises solely in creating a limited range of electric consumer vehicles, all of the products boasting premium quality and being very durable.
What we also liked about this e-bike is that it has 3 speed options, and the level of assistance depends on the power band chosen. Still, you can always keep the gears turned off for more challenge. If you select zero gear, you'll be able to get a good boost by cycling normally. But when you need to go up hills, use the third gear and go like a rocket (up to 25 km/h).
Great Shockproof Effect
From the specs standpoint, the bike is powered by a 250-Watt geared hub motor and fitted with a durable LG Lithium battery that needs somewhere from 3 to 4 hours to get fully charged. Afterwards, it can ride distances of about 55 km. Though, take note that the bike isn't well-suitable for really steep streets as its climbing ability makes only 15 degrees. That being said, 14" tires are rugged enough to let you hit sidewalk cracks without feeling little bumps. Moreover, you'll be able to ride off curbs since the bike provides great shockproof effect and is capable of absorbing most of the shock. Plus, the advanced disc-brake system ensures that the braking distance is significantly reduced.
To sum it all up, the C4 E-bike is a premium bike that boasts excellent craftmanship yet comes at a very reasonable price tag. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to ride. Whether you need a high-quality bike for commuting or simply for leisure, it's a good model to go for.

What Is a Folding Electric Bike?
You can make an excellent argument that folding electric bikes are the most convenient transportation means accessible to both children and adults around the city. To start with, electric bikes are convenient themselves since they're more nimble than cars yet can climb hills with ease, unlike standard bikes.
Add the "folding" part that makes them portable and you can take the bike, ride to the subway station, fold the bike, carry on the train, and then hop on the bike again to get from the last station to work and vice versa. You can normally fold these bikes to such an extent that they fit elevators and even under desks. Needless to say, you'll have no issues folding an e-bike like that to fit most trunks so that you can bring the bicycle with you on a road trip (whereas with standard bikes, you need bike racks).
Though they're usually pretty small, most collapsible electric bikes allow you to adjust the saddle height and the handlebars, so even people above six feet can ride them with enough comfort.
E-bikes can reach above 32 km/h, so we'd also recommend looking into sports sunglasses to make sure you're able to ride these bikes without tearing up.
What Features to Compare
Power
Folding electric bikes are electric first and maybe even foremost, so you ought to pay attention to the model's motor, how much power it is drawing and outputting, what its peak wattage is, and so on. With the right motor, folding e-bikes can go above 32 km/h and even reach 40 km/h. Needless to say, these motors also consume more energy, so when you're not about that acceleration life, you can stick with less powerful motors that cap at ~24 km/h.
Battery
The battery is where the motor is drawing the energy from. Most e-bikes come armed with ~36-volt batteries, enough to last somewhere between 24 and 30 km, depending on the mode and the model's battery. There are also batteries that are hiding around 50 volts, which means they're able to give you at least 56 km before draining out. More often than not, the battery's capacity directly correlates to the time it takes to recharge, so ~36-volt batteries will usually go from 0 to 100% within 3-4 hours, while ~48-volt batteries can take somewhere around 6.
Frame
Foldable electric bicycles are still bicycles, the most shocking twist, we know. That means that the frame matters as much as the next part. The right (usually made from high-strength, heavy-duty aluminium alloy) frame will be able to haul as much as 180 kgs, so even the biggest riders can use the bicycle without worrying about the weight leading to any accidents and decreasing the bike's lifespan.
Wheels
The biggest difference between bicycles these days comes from the wheels/tires. With wheels ranging from 35 to 50 cm, you can figure out the bike's restrictions pertaining to different terrains. The same sentiment can be extended towards the tires. With fat tires that are becoming more and more prevalent these days, you can ride on snow, sand, and the muddiest roads, but you're usually compromising the bike's manoeuvrability. With road tires, the e-bike will be more nimble but less suited towards tackling off-roads that most mountain bikes handle without breaking two sweats.
Suspension, Brakes, and Gearing
Not unlike standard bicycles, folding e-bikes are as dependable on the suspension system (when it is present), brakes, and gearing to make the riding experience as smooth, comfortable, enjoyable, and safe as possible. They're no different from standard bikes though, so we will not elaborate and you can find many articles that explain the differences between these parts and what separates good suspension systems, brakes, and gearing from middling alternatives.
Did you know?
Short version - yes, they are. Long version - here are the reasons why electric bikes are the best investment you can make today.
They Make Pedalling Easy
People who ride standard bikes know that biking is only fun when the ground is flat and the road is even. When you're forced to move uphill, biking is worse than walking. Well, with e-bikes, that's not the case. All you have to do is apply the slightest pressure towards the pedals and the motor will engage and give you the boost you need to zip up the steepest hills and cruise through the toughest terrains without gassing yourself.
They're Pretty Fast
Ordinary bikes can reach respectable speeds only when you're going downhill. With most e-bikes, you can easily hit somewhere between 25 and 40 km/h even when the ground is not flat and, provided you're willing to hit the pedals, the bike can go even faster than that. Sure, they are no motorcycles but the difference between electric bikes and conventional bikes speed-wise is pretty considerable, especially when you take into account that you're not forced to spin the pedals the entire time.
E-Bikes Do Not Discriminate
You have electric bikes that are able to reach different speeds, from 25 to even 50 km/h sometimes. You have e-bikes that can accommodate weights anywhere from 90 to 180 kilos. There are electric bicycles with fat tires that let you ride on snow, ice, and sand. There are mountain e-bikes that allow you to hit the toughest, roughest, bumpiest trails. There are different cyclists with different needs and preferences and, though electric bikes are not yet as common and prevalent as standard bicycles, there's an e-bike out there that will match these needs and preferences.
They Promote Exercising Too
What many people love about bikes is that they're only not transporting you from point A to point B but also enable you to exercise along the way, so you're killing two birds with one pedalling stone. But, you know what, e-bikes are not that different from ordinary bikes in that regard. You can pedal as much as you want with these bikes too. The only difference here is that you can get some rest when you want, the hills are not as exhausting, and you can choose how hard you ought to pedal to maintain certain speeds. With ordinary bikes, however, you're either pedalling and moving or not pedalling and not moving, there's nothing in-between.
The Batteries Are Not As Bad As They Used To Be
The first e-bikes were shipped with terrible batteries that would not allow you to hit even 16 km before dying out. Nowadays, there are electric bikes with batteries that last above 80 km and even some that can reach 160 km before you'll be forced to recharge them. Sure, the range will depend on the mode you're using (with throttle-only mode usually burning through batteries pretty quick) but, again, things are getting better.
They're Not Cheap But You're Saving Money Long-Term
Even the least expensive e-bikes that are somewhat decent cost around 800 pounds, nothing to sneeze at. But, when you take maintenance and petrol money into account, these bikes earn their keep sooner rather than later.
