Le Creuset 26 cm

Right Cookware for a Demanding Kitchen

It is easy to cook like a chef with the Le Creuset saute pan. Designed to help you make delicious meals with ease, this pan is ideal for both professional and creative home cooking. So would you like to braise veggies for dinner? Easy! Get crispy texture? Not a problem!

The pan is so good due to its thoughtful design. The Le Creuset saute pan has an aluminium base with a tough PFOA-free non-stick surface, so you can sear with less oil. The result: you always get a healthier, low in cholesterol meal.

This pan is equipped with the professional-style cast handles. They are attached with stainless steel rivets for a more secure connection. The pan also comes with a heat resistant glass lid. It fits tightly, so all the moisture, flavour, and vitamins stay inside the pan.

The maximal temperature this cookware can withstand is 260°C for the pan and 220°C for the lid. That is to say, the saute pan by Le Creuset is oven-safe and compatible with most types of hobs including the induction one.

As for the maintenance, cleaning this pan is easy and fast. Thanks to a non-stick coating, there is no burned food to scrub from the bottom. Hence, it takes almost no time to hand wash. You can also put the pan into your dishwasher when you have no time or desire to wash it by hands. Take note though, if you have accidentally damaged the coating beforehand (a scratch or something like that), the scratched spot may react with aggressive dishwasher tablets, resulting in corrosion in the future. When maintained right though, this pan will serve you hand and foot for many years.

Tefal Comfort Max, 26 cm

One of the Best Saute Pans

With Tefal, cooking even the hardest dish is easy and delightful. Why? Because the company produces cookware only from high-quality materials, applying well-proven technologies. Take this saute pan for example. Its body is made of stainless steel which includes 18% chromium and 10% nickel. This makes the pan very durable and wearproof.

The Tefal Comfort Max is highly resistant to corrosion and rust. In addition to that, it withstands high temperatures and is dishwasher and oven safe up to 175°C. The base is made from stainless steel with an aluminium disc encapsulated in it. This design solution ensures better heat conductivity, so the pan heats up faster, more evenly, and has no hot spots. Also, thanks to such a construction, the base is perdurable and resistant to deformation under stress.

Moving on, the manufacturer uses Bakelite for handles and a knob. This material is wearproof, it resists high temperatures, and most importantly, stays cool during the cooking process. The glass lid has a vent to release the controlled amount of steam, so you can keep that tasty vitamin-enriched food juice intact.

Thermospot and Non-Stick technology is Tefal’s brand identity. With its help, you always know when your pan is hot enough to start cooking.

Finally, there are visible measuring marks on the inside of the pan that we liked so much. They let you mix liquids more accurately when a measuring cup is not at hand. Definitely, with Tefal, cooking is always a pleasure.

VonShef 28cm

Budget Saute Pan for a Large Family

If you are on a budget but need a pan that can help you cook the variety of dishes for your family, this saute pan by VonShef may interest you. It is 28cm in diameter and holds up to 4.3L of liquid. So, you can cook quite a lot at a time. A great option for cooking in a big way and beforehand.

Next, the base is made from 3.5-mm stainless steel covered with non-stick tough carbon steel. It distributes heat very well and is very durable. However, we wouldn’t scrub the pan or use an aggressive detergent, because the non-stick coating may start reacting with it (crumbling). Unfortunately, this is an issue of many non-stick pans.

The bottom of the VonShef pan is made inductive, so it heats up evenly and is compatible with most hobs including induction and ceramic ones.

Silicone handle remains cold when heated. It has a hanging loop, so you can hang it on a hook under the tabletop, for example. The last but not the least feature worth mentioning is that the VonShef saute pan comes with a vented glass lid for better cooking results.

As for the dishes you can make with this item, your options are endless. Thanks to its design and capacity, VonShef allows you to saute, sear, fry, poach, simmer, caramelise, and many more. Does it seem like multi-purpose cookware? Well, we bet it is!

ProCook 28cm

Good Choice for Quick and Healthy Meals

The ProCook Gourmet Saute pan is built to last and please its users with delicious healthy meals day after day. Made from high-quality aluminium with a reinforced base, this pan heats up quickly, evenly, and has great heat distribution properties for the best cooking results. The non-stick coating is a PFOA-free Teflon, which means you need less oil for frying. The result is a healthier lifestyle without depriving yourself of your favourite meals.

Since Teflon promises good food release, washing the pan is a matter of a minute. No more scrubbing or water-soak.

As for the size, the ProCook saute pan is 28 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in depth. It can hold up to 3.4L of liquid.

The pan is really great for sauteing vegetables and for searing a couple of steaks for dinner. It is also suitable for making risotto, pasta sauce, and paella. Thanks to ergonomic handles and their stay cool construction, mixing and jumbling ingredients while cooking is pretty convenient. Yet, we would use a potholder when getting the pan out of the oven and wait a few seconds before touching the handles. This is because they are made from silicone that warms up under extreme heat, but it cools down very quickly too.

Overall, the saute pan by ProCook is a reliable piece of cookware. It is easy and convenient to cook with. Plus, it has a lovely price and a 10-year warranty. Not the key feature, but a very pleasant bonus.

Tower 28cm

Good Looking, Good Cooking

The Tower saute pan is attractive cookware made to last. The design is what you notice first when looking at this pan. It has a black base and rose gold handles on both the pan and the lid, which makes it look stylish and professional. But is it able to cook as good as it looks? Well, let’s see.

The base of the saute pan is made from 3-mm high-quality aluminium; the handles are plated with stainless steel; the non-stick coating is Cerasure ceramic which promises effortless cooking with minimum oil.

The pan is durable and compatible with all hobs. It is also very easy to clean. Since its non-stick coating works pretty well, a soft washcloth and soapy water are enough to remove food debris from its surface.

The Tower pan is 28 cm in diameter and has a 2.6L capacity. This is not that much compared to its rivals but is enough to cook a meal for a large family. Plus, thanks to its wide working area, your cooking options are not limited to sauteing. You can prepare anything from scrambled eggs to ratatouille in this pan.

As for the lid, it is made of tempered glass with steam ventilation. The lid handle is big and handy. It fits the pan upside down, so you can store another pan on top of it and, consequently, save some useful space in your kitchen.

If we had to find a flaw in this product, it would be its steel handles. They warm up when used on a gas hob. There is a solution though - a potholder. Other than that, this seems to be a very good pan for daily use.

What Is a Saute Pan?

Not many of us can boast of having a minimum amount of cookware in our kitchens. Every housekeeper has at least 10 pans and pots in their cupboards, right? But contrary to popular belief, we don’t need 20 different pans to cook delicious diversified meals every day. In practice, 5-7 items are enough for diverse cooking.

In most cases, we would need a large skillet, a saute pan, and a couple of deep pots for soups. We can also buy additional cookware according to our taste and specific preferences. Thus, pizza lovers are more likely to have a few pizza pans, while barbecue fans usually need high-quality griddle pans for their kitchen. In this review though, we want to focus on saute pans and their advantages.

A saute pan is a deep pan with a flat bottom. It has vertical sides, a long handle, and a lid. Some models also have an additional small “helping” handle for more convenient grip.

Thanks to such a geometry, a saute pan offers a larger cooking area than skillets. They lose about 30% of the useful surface on flared sides.

A saute pan can also fit a larger volume of liquid. And thanks to its high sides, sauce won’t splash out when you move the pan. Plus, the lid fits more tightly, thus letting you control evaporation while cooking. Actually, evaporation is the key difference between a saute pan and a skillet. A saute pan locks moisture, keeping food juicy.

What can you cook with a saute pan? Quite a lot! You can make mouth-watering poached eggs, braised vegetables, flavourful pasta with meatballs, and many more delicious recipes.
