Excellent Manoeuvrability and Aesthetics
The De'Longhi TRDX41025E is sleek and effective. We've seen more aesthetically pleasing units before but its streamlined and even somewhat elegant profile will be able to add to most settings. The company's signature white housing mixed with this black insert, two buttons, one dial, and an LED screen looks good enough to make this appliance much more appealing than most oil heaters.
Setting aesthetics aside, the unit is quite massive. Measuring 70.6 x 63 x 17.6 centimetres, we've seen more compact heaters before. Likewise, the weight of the heater reaches ~19 kilograms, so you might face some transportation challenges.
You should be able to overcome these challenges relatively easy though because as the pre-assembled rubberised wheels enable excellent manoeuvrability and are more than suitable for most surfaces.
The standard side handle will also let you move this unit around the house, which is nice but you probably won't have to use the handle especially often since the aforementioned wheels are much more comfortable and convenient.
Chimney Effect
The controls that we've mentioned above make the unit simple and accessible enough. Using these buttons and dials (well, one dial, to be more specific, you'll be able to adjust the thermostat to whatever temperature you want and use the ECO function to make sure the unit wastes no more energy than necessary to keep the space nice and warm.
The space that we're describing here can as be as large 75 m³, meaning that you'll be able to use this appliance to keep multiple rooms warm enough. Through the LED screen, the heater will also let you access the standard 24-hour timer that you can use to make sure the flat/house is already warm when you arrive home but without working the entire time you're gone.
First and foremost though, this unit is effective. Convicting air through these chimney-like protrusions, the appliance makes sure that the cold air is channelled through the radiator's hottest, accelerating its movement through the vents to make the rooms warm as quickly as possible.
At the same time, the enlarged fin shape makes sure that this increased chimney effect ensures the fastest hot air flow. Meanwhile, the enlarged battery design lets the unit secure around 25% larger radiant surface compared to the model's predecessor.

11 Fins This Time
The PureMate Portable Oil Heater might not be the purest mate but, at the very least, the unit is up there. We're not sure about its purity but there's certainly something clean about its appearance, something elegant, something that will fit even more upscale settings. The lines are clean, the white housing is meshing seamlessly with the grey control panel, the dials are not bulky, the whole thing looks like everything is in its place.
You can even wrap and hide the cable using the hook below the dials, enabling hassle-free storage and transportation. What will also enable hassle-free transportation is the carry handle and the manoeuvrable wheels on the bottom, letting you move this sizable (50 x 24 x 62 centimetres) unit between different rooms without feeling like you're lugging an immovable object. All that being said, the metal brackets that are supplied with the package and hold the wheels are a little thin, so do make sure you're careful with initial installation and subsequent relocation(s).
Where appearance meets operation is the 11 fins that the unit's distributing warmth with. Owing to these 11 fins (as well as the 2500-watt output), the model can maintain spaces as large as 75 metres³, not something that you can usually say about oil heaters within this price bracket. What you can usually say about them is that they come equipped with timers, not unlike this one, so you can set the unit to turn off at night or when you go to work without worrying that you might forget to do that manually.
Playing It Safe
As much as we like this model, which is quite a lot, there's nothing necessarily interesting about its features. Sure, you can switch between 3 heat settings, but we can say the same about 9/10 oil heaters. It is true that the unit employs an adjustable thermostat and temperature control but, again, they all do, unless we're discussing low-end models. There's nothing wrong with playing it safe, nothing at all, just that there's not much room for discussion here. Speaking of safety though, we can commend the safety features that have been incorporated into the unit's design. Aside from the standard overheating protection mechanism, these include an automatic tip-over switch and thermal shut-off.
In closing, if you're looking for an efficient oil heater with a slim body and tall vertical design, the PureMate Portable Oil Heater will fit that bill to a tee. With this one, you can even maintain medium-sized houses.

Streamlined Aesthetics
The Delonghi TRD4 1025T Dragon-4 is up there with the most brilliant oil heaters within this price bracket.
First and foremost, the unit has been designed incorporating an elegant, smooth, and, at the same time, safe profile. Featuring rounded edges, the model looks stylish, uncluttered and streamlined. The pure-white finish makes the unit especially modern and elegant, elegant enough to seamlessly mesh with most settings and even class up some rooms.
On the front, there's this equally sleek and streamlined black control panel with silver dials that contrasts really well with the pure-white body, creating this modern aesthetic. The dials will let you control the heater's functions that we will cover soon enough.
At the same time, the pre-assembled castor wheels and this surprisingly ergonomic side handle make this electric oil-filled space heater safe and relatively easy to move around. We use the word relatively because the unit weighs 17.5 kilograms, which is fairly high compared to most heaters within this bracket.
Enlarged Fins
Regarding functionality, the unit does not disappoint in the slightest. There's an adjustable thermostat that lets you control the temperature. You can choose between three heat levels to make quick adjustments.
There's also the Eco mode that will automatically regulate the power level and temperature to save as much energy as possible without sacrificing comfort and warmth. The 24-hour mechanical timer is pretty standard, letting you keep the house warm in advance. The company's Dragon line uses enlarged fins to enhance the chimney effect, accelerating airflow through the vents to make the unit heat even faster than its already fast predecessors.
Other than that, the anti-frost function and the unit's overheat safety cut-out mechanism will make sure to prevent any fire hazards and keep the heater safe and sound. The built-in cable storage solution contributes to the model's uncluttered design too.
In short, the Delonghi TRD4 1025T Dragon-4 is an oil-based heater that manages to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Plus, considering the price relative to its heating potency, the unit offers brilliant value.

Variable Temperature Thermostat
The Russell Hobbs RHOFR5001B rubs elbows with traditional oil heaters but not without borrowing a few tricks from the new school. Sure, this is not the most impressive appliance we've seen yet but, where medium-sized flats and large rooms are concerned, this unit more than covers cold spells and months between ~August and May. Not unlike its direct (as well as indirect) competition, the model comes equipped with 3 heat settings: low heat (600 watts), medium heat (900 watts), and high heat (1500 watts). Switching between these settings, you can add a little heat, keep an average room warm, or even maintain a perfect heat level inside sizable premises. Likewise, the heater's integrated thermostat will be regulating the temperature around the unit, keeping it optimal. Once the desired temperature's reached, the appliance switches off. When the same area cools down, the unit automatically switches back on.
Needless to say, with its peak 1500-watt output, the model does not quite land among the most powerful oil heaters. The good news is that its weight has been informed about this decision beforehand as well. Whereas most oil-based heaters these days usually weigh around 15 kilogrammes, this appliance does not even reach 7 kilos, making the unit more than luggable and enabling easy relocation between rooms. As expected, the model also features an integrated handle, so you should be able to move this appliance alone without much trouble. But, when carrying it is not an option (or you don't feel like it), the built-in castors should also do the trick, letting you roll the unit from one room to the next without applying much effort.
Even Heat Distribution
Other than the usual dials and settings that we've come to expect from oil heaters, an important part this appliance borrows from the proverbial new school is 7 enlarged fins. Using these fins, the model ensures even heat distribution, keeping the entire room warm and not just the general area.
A little less important but nice nonetheless is that the power cord measures 1.45 metres long, so it will not keep you as tied to the mains as these heaters sometimes can. Last (and maybe even least), the unit incorporates overheat and tip-over protection, meaning that the appliance automatically switches off when it gets too hot or is knocked over. Plus, the power indicator will always let you know when the radiator's switched on.
Bottom line, as long as you're not 'working' with the largest room imaginable, the Russell Hobbs RHOFR5001B will suffice.

DESIGNED TO IMPRESS
Designed for medium to large apartments and houses, radiator heaters are a perfect way to warm up the room in a short period of time. And this model from DeLonghi is not an exception.
The 2 KW Dragon 4 heater is able to heat up the rooms no larger than 60 square metres, which is a quite economical power/spent electricity ratio. Thus, the radiator is suitable for medium to large rooms such as living rooms, offices, etc.
Instead of a digital timer, this version of DeLonghi Dragon 4 is fitted with timer with a manual dial for setting, which will be convenient for people that prefer preheating rooms or using the heater only at a certain time of a day. The heater has a switch that features an indicator light that will conveniently show if the device is on. Alternatively, when the convector reaches a maximum temperature it will automatically turn itself off with a distinct click sound, which some users may find a little bit loud. However, it doesn’t reach a non-safe level of 20 dB so it should not annoy or bother you that much, once you get used to it.
Moving on, the radiator has a special handle, which in combination with pre-assembled castors makes it quite easy to transport or carry around the house, despite the fact that the heater is quite heavy.
PASSIVE HEATING CAPABILITIES
Thanks to the special “chimney” effect, the radiator is able to act as a convector heater. So, the way it works is quite simple, a radiator in pair with the special construction of the housing pushes the cold air through the lower part of the heater and channels it through the top of the device. This way your room, no matter how big it is, is always heated from the bottom to top.
Although the device features a safety thermostat that will automatically turn the device off when it reaches a certain temperature level, it doesn’t feature a thermal cut-off function, unlike most recent models of Dragon 4. Thus, with a two-step safety system on board, you are getting a high-quality thermostat the can be reused numerous times, unlike a thermal detector that has limited reusability and will have to be changed every couple of years.
Owing to the convector effect the heater can effectively heat up not only one floor but two in case you live in a multi-story building. Of course, the effect of such kind of heating will be rather passive, however, in case you tend to leave the heater on for a night it can warm up the room above in just a few hours.
To wrap things up, the Dragon 4 TRD40820T from DeLonghi will be a good investment in case you are the owner of a big house or apartment and don’t have a central heating system installed.

What Is an Oil Heater?
When cold seasons come, it makes sense to invest in a good heater and create a comfortable climate in your home. And one of the best decisions would be to invest in an oil heater, a device recognized for its ease of use, energy-efficiency, whisper-quiet operation and effectiveness.
An oil heater looks like a traditional radiator, but its operating principle is not the same. After plugging an oil heater in the mains, the heating element inside the device begins transferring heat to the mineral oil, thus heating the radiator surface. That surface, in turn, releases the heat into the room, quickly filling the space with warmth. The maximum temperature an oil heater can reach is around 65°C, which makes it the best option for people that seek a heater able to warm their place real quick.
One more advantage is that an oil heater doesn't stop radiating heat even after you plug it off the electricity, which allows you to keep your flat warm while saving a pretty good sum of money on energy costs. Finally, an oil heater is a 'healthier' alternative: due to the lack of a fan, it doesn't tend to dry the air as many other heaters do, so even people prone to itchy skin and allergies can safely use it in their homes.
In case you're interested in more powerful heating appliances, we recommend you to read about gas or space heaters. Thanks to the high capacity of the fuel used, these can cover areas up to 1500 sq.ft.
What Features to Compare
Power
The first thing you should pay attention to when selecting an oil heater is the power, which is particularly important when it comes to the room space you need to warm. For heating a small area of 10 m², it's better to choose a model with the power of 1000 Watts. If the heated area ranges from 14 to 19 m², it's advisable to consider models with the power of 1500 Watts at least. If the premise is 29 m² and more, it's better to buy a more powerful heater or maybe even a couple. You should keep in mind that the number of fins is also important and can tell you about the heating potential. The more fins there are in a heater, the more heat it will generate without overheating. For warming up areas of about 19 m², the heater should have 5-7 fins.
Controls
After you've decided on the coverage area, it's time to consider the controls. In this respect, take notice of the On/Off programmable timer availability. The timer prevents energy overuse as it provides an operation within the pre-set time. The models with a digital display are designed to provide ease of operation, while a variety of heating modes allow you to select the optimal indoor temperature.
Oil heaters usually incorporate adjustable thermostats as well as varying heat settings. As you would imagine, an adjustable thermostat feature will let you choose very specific temperatures, whilst these heat settings usually let you choose between 2-3 different options to ensure the unit uses as much energy as necessary to keep the room comfortably warm.
Usability
Usability is another essential aspect you should bear in mind. Quite often, heaters are moved from one room to another, and this is where wheel casters are important. These wheels should be good enough to let you transport the appliance with comfort and ease. At the same time, the wheels ought to be rugged enough to support the unit's weight yet rubberised to prevent the appliance from scratching the floors.
Also, you've got to think of the unit dimensions and weight to find a convenient place for it. Yet, take into account that the more compact a unit is, the less power it generates, hence, heating smaller areas.
Safety
When using oil-heaters, safety is definitely a matter of great importance. Since oil-filled radiators can reach up to 200°F, make sure they are not placed close to the high inflammable furniture surfaces. Currently, oil heaters feature overheating protection (thermal cut-off) and some models even have a tip-over switch.
