About the Product
The A7X is ADAM’s best selling nearfield monitor. It is one of the most balanced and versatile speakers currently on the market. The X-ART tweeter produces detailed, uncompressed highs and upper mids without being tiring over long listening periods. Despite its compact housing, the bass response is powerful and precise.
Ever since the 1970's the iconic white woofer and signature sound of Yamaha's nearfield reference monitors have become a genuine industry standard for a reason-their accuracy.

What customers say about "Key Specs"
Adam Audio A7X 100 W 2-Way, Wired, XLR, 42 to 50000 Hz Loudspeaker (Black)
  • When I finally thought about doing it a few years ago, I searched for reviews and comparisons and found these commonly compared to the Mackies, frequently favorably.
  • There's something I can't really quantify about the new speakers too. Imaging is incredible.
  • Just amazed at these monitors they are fantastic!
  • Awesome monitors! Not sure what could be better than these.
  • These are a pretty penny, lots of pretty pennies, but worth every bit. I'm convinced these speakers were crafted by God himself, just like Adam was back in the day.
Yamaha HS8
  • I've got some little active monitors which are pretty damn good but these, these really are studio.
  • Just got these monitors yesterday-hooked them up and ran reference music through them to test them out- outstanding at their price point for sure !
  • They can handle loud kick/ snare hits without clipping and the mids are clear and present.
  • They are loud without being too loud and are not harsh sounding at all.
  • They are sensitive and I think the 120W power rating is plenty.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Adam Audio A7X 100 W 2-Way, Wired, XLR, 42 to 50000 Hz Loudspeaker (Black)
  • This studio monitor good for small studio for near field monitoring , gives you good quality when mix down
  • These speakers are like a big candy bar made of sound sitting on your desk...
  • It's not very good looking and heavy speaker but sound is amazing.
  • Speaker is quite bulky and heavy so you can easily hurt your back when carrying it.
Yamaha HS8
  • Big, loud and clear. What more could you want in a studio monitor?
  • The HS8's sound good, look really sharp (pay a very close homage to their NS10M ancestors), and are a great value for the price.
  • These monitors are heavy, solid and powerful. If you're upgrading from 5-6" drivers, make sure you have stands that can hold monitors with this much heft.
  • Overall, well built & sounds great, which is what I would expect from Yamaha!
  • Upon receipt, were surprised by their size; if you are coming from a 5 monitor, these seem to be about twice as big. That said, build quality seems excellent, and he is extremely pleased with the results.

What customers say about "Audio"
Adam Audio A7X 100 W 2-Way, Wired, XLR, 42 to 50000 Hz Loudspeaker (Black)
  • The sound is cleaner. Simply cleaner. So very clean. You will read reviews where people say they heard things in music they've never heard before. It's true.
  • With the finely-chiseled ribbon tweeter and carbon-infused cone, you can hear everything, and the 7-inch cone provides just the right amount of frequency coverage to feel what you need to feel.
  • Sounds incredible! Get it with the mounts I reviewed on here and you're a happy camper disturbing the neighbors.
  • High end is the best I have ever heard! Lows and mids are phenomenal also-- especially from only a 7-inch speaker.
  • They sound amazing, but your wallet better be ready for this purchase.
Yamaha HS8
  • Not even set up properly, one on a chair, the other propped on a table full of stuff they image like you wouldn't believe
  • The Yamahas are really quite something, especially for the $; solid, clear bass, crisp, detailed highs and open mids.
  • Frequency response and overall sound quality is amazing. Well worth the price.
  • The Yamaha HS8 a very accurate monitor. Deep low end, well defined mids, and crisp smooth highs.
  • Imaging is spot on, I can hear the texture of bass guitar, I'm not experiencing fatigue, and I am certain that I am hearing some things that I don't even notice

What customers say about "Features"
Adam Audio A7X 100 W 2-Way, Wired, XLR, 42 to 50000 Hz Loudspeaker (Black)
  • Of course, you can always add a sub and basically change your underwear every time you listen to music on them.
  • They are as good as the reviews said, I cant find anything I don't like about them.
  • Paired with a good DAC, the sound is unreal at times (though you get used to even sound this good).
  • The built in amps that drive them are also very good. Clean and dynamic.
  • The tweeter style is quite nice - there's a pleasant texture to the high end.
  • One nice difference between the two speakers is there is no automatic shut off on the A7X if you play at low volume.
Yamaha HS8
  • I love the room control and overall function.
  • Because of space constraints, these are right in front of a hard surface, so I keep the "room" switch in the second position.
  • Made with a nearly seamless MDF plastic which is proving to be far more accurate and open, if not slightly more abrasive than a wood enclosure.
  • I don't have bass traps yet so the -2dB pad on the low end helps a lot to balance out the signal.
  • This seemed to be the most well reviewed among the ported designs in terms of accuracy and bass response.
