For the capacity this drive is fantastic value; it's very quiet even under load, and speeds are good
Fast, virtually silent and has the capacity advertised.
As the other reviews have described, this HDD is about capacity and not useful for a standard NAS.
This drive is large in capacity, slim in size.
My only concern in advance is with such a large capacity drive there is a lot to lose when this goes faulty, consider this if the device is to be primary storage, if this is level 2/3 then happy days people !

It's got a decent capacity for a fair enough price point and you won't get cross copying files to it - and that's a massive advantage for a portable hard drive.

Slightly thicker than I would have like but considering 1TB 5 years ago was the size of a small house and needed a backup generator to get it going (ok, slight exaggeration), can't really complain.
Great performace with usb 3.0 connection, and the smaller physical size, less weight and one less connection to plug in than my previous drive made this a great upgrade for me.
Don’t be fooled to think that this is a 7.5mm drive, its not. Size is nearer to 20mm but for an external device this simply doesn’t matter.
It is appropriately sized and looks sleek.
The size is great no bigger than a paperback book, two front facing USB PORTS for easy access, works quietly when engaged on backing up my RAW files

A nice feature is the front panel USB ports for quick connection of temporary items, my Ecig battery in particular.
It's a no thrills stealth look with with only minor features like an etched metallic seagate logo and a small LED slit on top that neither add much to the look or functionality of the product but also don't distract from the sleekness either.
Great product good backup features
Maybe the regular backups feature works but that’s not what I wanted it for, I wanted to collect files from multiple machines. Terrible experience.
Just a small warning for Mac users looking to use the Dashboard to set-up scheduled backup plans: that feature only works in Windows!

Does the job, Nice and compact. i didnt get it for the cloud features so cant comment on those
I have had many hard drives before and was glad to find that they have finally designed some good backup software that is much better than what you get with Windows 7.
Great piece of kit, I use it for back up but also for recovery software when I'm repairing other people'shardware
I wondered if the backup software was having a glitch, so I tried to reformat and use the drive under a different OS. It's not possible to reformat the drive either, under Linux or Windows.
Works as expected. But do we really need all the WD software (I've taken it off and use the software from the application) so no big deal in the long run.
