- The drive is incredibly easy to remove and has been installed in my Synology NAS, greatly increasing it's capacity.
- Pretty good price for such a large capacity dual-drive which I use in Raid 1 mode so all my data is backed up within the drive.
- Then there's capacity. The bigger the capacity the greater the discrepancy between stated and real capacity. .
- Excellent storage capacity at 8tb, this is my second 8tb from Western Digital, I have a few 6tb and 4tb as well and have always found them totally reliable more so than seagate.
- Capacity of the larger drives is good but design is terrible.
- As the other reviews have described, this HDD is about capacity and not useful for a standard NAS.
- I have a few external drives, WD 2.5" and WD 3.5" cloud drive, but I think for size and capacity so far I like this quite a lot.
- My only concern in advance is with such a large capacity drive there is a lot to lose when this goes faulty, consider this if the device is to be primary storage, if this is level 2/3 then happy days people !
- This drive is large in capacity, slim in size.
- Needed a high capacity reliable drive to back up 3 computers, unfortunately, this had the capacity but not the reliability.
- This new design makes a odd sound I hoping it's going to be as reliable as my others, my slight nervousness is the reason I've only given it 4 stars
- Really well built and designed.
- This new November 2016 version of the WD My Book is similar in size to the previous version, however the design of the enclosure is dramatically changed.
- Surprisingly compact, fast and well designed.
- Really not sure what Western Digital were thinking with this design. Capacity of the larger drives is good but design is terrible.
- takes a while due to the size of the disk, but has worked well so far (I've had to do this twice). Generally speaking, it's fast and reliable.
- The drive is very small, about iPod Classic size and weight.
- Don’t be fooled to think that this is a 7.5mm drive, its not. Size is nearer to 20mm but for an external device this simply doesn’t matter.
- But this is true for any size, style or make of HDD, external or internal. Spend an extra £7 on a decent case would be my advice.
- The size is great no bigger than a paperback book, two front facing USB PORTS for easy access, works quietly when engaged on backing up my RAW files
- It connected immediately to my iMac and file transfer was rapid. Although I use a Mac, the external drive needed to be formatted as a Windows disc to be read by my TV.
- It's a nice looking unit that I have connected to my iMac for backups and to store my large collection of files.
- I tried connecting via both USB A and C connectors and they work seamlessly on 2 different computers.
- The Security program (v2.0.0.48) lets you put a password onto the device. This can be disabled for the machine it's setup on, so you do not have to keep entering it all the time.
- Over time it got worse and now it can't stay connected for more than 15 mins before seemingly overheating and the fans running at full speed and disconnecting from PC.
- A nice feature is the front panel USB ports for quick connection of temporary items, my Ecig battery in particular.
- Drive was detected straight away on Windows 10 and there are various software features loaded onto the drive should you wish to use them.
- At the time of purchase it was one of the cheapest drives on the market for the storage and features.
- Great product good backup features
- Poor sealing(glue slightly comming of lid seal)
