There is so much this little box can do: timed backups, remote access, file sharing, etc.
You really do get a lot of functionality for your money.
The software is fine, we used the supplied Windows app to set up users and passwords without any undue stress.
There is a lot of free Synology software to play with. A nice bit of kit for home use.
Great technology, drive capacity, speed, design and performance.

Off site access with Quick connect is great. DS app on phone controlling movies on wifi TV is icing on the cake.
A feature rich and seriously very good NAS device.
This is a great improvement to my old WD MyBook that is nearing its MTBF time. So many features to play with.
The Synology DS has a bunch of great built-in features for things like proxy servers, torrent downloading etc. Set-up took around 10 minutes.
This is awesome, easy to set up and not a single problem in 3 months of use. Great features.
