Awesome NVR. This is in use in a commercial property and was so straight forward to set up.
Detecting and recording the cameras works perfectly.
I had 4 cameras installed, and with these continually recording the CPU was running at 99% nearly all the time, which is insane for something that is meant to run 12 cameras!
It has a 1ghz processor in it, was too puny in my opinion.
The software was terrible for detection alerting.

The options for use are varied and very flexible with lots of Apps available to install.
The DS218 has a fast processor and an ample amount of RAM.
The iPhone photo backup seems to work well.
This is a good product with a lot of features for the price. Initial setup was straightforward.

The 2 ports on the rear of the unit may be useful however even with the USB 3.0 data transfer rates.
It has all the necessary connectors for comfortable use.
